EVENTS AND PROMOTIONS COORDINATOR

Temporary Part-Time Parental Leave Coverage

Are you an organized, creative and energetic professional who enjoys bringing people together? The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce is seeking an Events and Promotions Coordinator to help deliver engaging events and communications that connect, support and celebrate Greater Vernon’s business community.

Representing more than 700 members, the Chamber provides networking, promotion, advocacy and business-development opportunities throughout the region.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Events and Promotions Coordinator will plan and promote Chamber events, create member communications and work with sponsors, hosts and community partners. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can confidently manage multiple deadlines while contributing new ideas and maintaining strong attention to detail.

This temporary, part-time role provides maternity leave coverage (anticipated start date ASAP, approximate end date December 23rd 2026 / or until the return of the incumbent).

Key Responsibilities

Event & Promotions Coordination

· Plan, promote, and execute a diverse range of Chamber events, including:

(such as Business After 5, Business Excellence Awards, Christmas Cocktail Party, Rally the Valley campaign, Election forums)

· Develop and manage event budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director.

· Coordinate logistics: venues, vendors, décor, food & beverage, AV, speakers, entertainment.

· Create event pages in our management software and oversee registrations.

· Support set-up and onsite event flow.

· Send sponsor thank-yous and follow-up communications.

Communications & Promotions

· Create, design, and write member e-newsletters and member communications.

· Coordinate external submissions from non-profits and paid e-blast sponsors.

· Sponsorship coordination, graphic design/Canva, website updates and email-marketing experience

· Manage social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn) with weekly engaging content.

· Represent the Chamber at community activities and events as required.

Office & Team Support

· Provide occasional front-office support (answering phones, greeting guests).

· Work collaboratively with the Chamber team to develop new event ideas and promotional strategies.

· Maintain a regular in-office presence as required for event and member support.

Requirements

· Experience in event planning and/or promotions

· Self starter and highly organized team player

· Strong social media management skills

· Excellent organization and multitasking ability

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Ability to work some evenings, maximum twice a month (with compensation in accordance with the BC Employment Standards Act)

Compensation

Hourly Range: $27–$30 per hour, commensurate with experience.
