Position Title: Support
Position Summary: To support the food service team in all aspects of table service
Job Responsibilities: To support the food service team in delivering food, clearing plates, delivering dessert and cleaning/ re-setting tables.
All duties will be carried out in an environment of teamwork, as follows:
Duties:
- Arrive to work in a clean and pressed uniform in a timely fashion for your shift.
- Check with hostess for which station and servers you are assigned
- Assist with finalizing the set-up of tables including napkins, cutlery, candles, flowers and water glasses
- Double check all tables in your station are ready
- Check your station and ensure it is well stocked with napkins, water glasses, cutlery and to-go containers.
- Ensure a refreshed bucket with soap and water and clean rags is at the service station
- Fill water carafes and jugs using the water tap at the bar and place at your station
- When time allows fold napkins or polish silverware at back service station
- Passion to deliver the best experience through attentive and friendly service.
- Approach all tables with a genuine smile and warm welcome.
- Once a table is seated fill their water glasses by lifting the glasses off the table holding the glass under the bowl and filling away from the table
- Assist servers by setting side plates for platter sharing, pouring and serving soup, clearing tables, preparing and delivering dessert
- Assist other team members with Saganaki delivery (this requires two people one to hold the cheese and brandy and other to light the brandy and set down the pita)
- Assist servers and food runners by delivering food to tables
- Cleaning any spills or broken glass/plates as required.
- Bus, clean and re-set tables as they are vacated
- All glasses are returned to the bar, all plate-ware and cutlery are placed neatly in the dish washing area in the kitchen
- Restock stations through-out the evening
Experience:
- 1 years serving experience is a similar restaurant
- Or comparable experience in service or hospitality industry
- Serving it Right current certificate (preferred but not necessary)
Skills:
- Fluent in English
- Have a warm smile and genuine desire to create exceptional guest experiences
- Ability to carry several plates or heavy trays
- Organization skills are an asset
- Have an out-going demeanor and positive attitude
- Calm demeanor in stressful and busy environment
- Be a willing team player who offers to help their co-workers through-out their shift

Ensure uniform is clean and well pressed
Rubber sole shoes (no Doc Marteens, Fluevhog, boots, sneakers or runners)
Maximum 2” heel
Subtle make-up and no strong odors/perfume
Hair should be fully secured
Natural hair colour only
Nails are to be clean with no chipped nail polish
Male Support:
Black pants, white shirt
Ithaka tie (supplied)
Ensure uniform is clean and well pressed
Rubber sole shoes (no Doc Marteens, Fluevhog, boots, sneakers or runners)
No strong odors/perfume
Long Hair should be fully secured

Company Background:
Ithaka is a family restaurant opened in 2014 in Victoria by the Adamopolos family. The original restaurant was located at Vancouver and Yates street and was managed and run by Tommy, Maria, Dimitri and Andreas. Due to that location’s lease not being renewed a new location on Burdett was secured that was originally Milos restaurant. Following 8 months of significant re-decorating and renovations the current restaurant was opened in October 2020.
Tommy and Maria fully retired in 2023 and their son Dimitri took over the operation his wife Edith. They have created a warm and inviting restaurant that offers traditional authentic Greek food prepared and served by a professional team.

Pay: $18.25 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 12.0 per week
