Full job description

Van Isle Windows Ltd. is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Accounting team!

As a key member of the Accounting team, the Accountant is responsible for managing accounts payable, maintaining accurate financial records, and processing transactions with a high degree of accuracy. Reporting to the Controller, this role supports a range of accounting functions, including acting as back-up for accounts receivable as required, inventory records & reports, and general ledger activities.

We not only deliver locally built custom-made windows and patio doors but also provide our customers with exceptional customer service.

Key Role Responsibilities:

Manage accounts payable and support accounts receivable as required
Participating with inventory processes such as cycle counts and verifying inventory records & reporting
Prepare monthly sales tax remittances for review and filing
Accurately code and process purchase invoices and prepare timely weekly vendor payments
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare and post journal entries
Analyze general ledger accounts and variances
Assist with month-end closing and financial reporting
Maintain confidentiality of all personal and financial information.
Perform other related duties as assigned

What You Bring:

Three to five years of progressive, relevant experience, ideally in manufacturing or an industrial environment
Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting
Solid understanding of accounting principles, including full-cycle accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
Familiarity with transaction cycles
Experience with Sage Accounting, Payworks and QuickBooks is preferred.
Strong Excel, MS Office and overall computer/system skills
Knowledge of small business accounting practices is an asset
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently
Proactive mindset with strong initiative
Effective communication skills, with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
Progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset, but not required

What We Offer:

Location: Victoria, BC,
Position Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $70,000 – $75,000 annually, plus comprehensive benefits
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
