Position Description:
Reporting to the General Manager – Corporate Flight Operations, the Chief Pilot is responsible for direct supervision of their PSAI flight crew and developing standard operating procedures in compliance with the Private Operations Manual and the Canadian Air Regulations.
The successful candidate will be committed to an exceptional level of service standards, consistently meeting or exceeding client service expectations while creating an enjoyable and easy experience, managing confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
The salary range for this role is $185,000 - $225,000, reflecting varying levels of experience. While the full range represents the potential earnings for the role, it is not typical to start at the top of the range. Placement within the range is based on qualifications, experience, and alignment with internal equity.
Specific Accountabilities:
Operational Leadership & Standards
- Maintain oversight and a thorough understanding of client requirements, applying sound judgement and providing creative solutions to meet mission objectives.
- Performing the duties of Captain on at least two Pacific Sky aircraft types.
Training, Qualifications, & Regulatory Compliance
- Serve as Training Captain, with responsibility for training and assessing all crew members in accordance with the Private Operations Manual.
- Manage all initial and recurrent training programs for flight crew, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the tracking of crew qualifications and certifications, maintaining accurate and up-to-date training records.
People Leadership & Performance Management
- Provide people leadership through coaching and mentoring of flight crew.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and address performance or compliance issues.
- Support ongoing professional development of flight crew members.
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Alignment
- Support and implement Pacific Sky strategic business objectives related to flight operations, safety management, and client service delivery.
- Actively promote the culture, growth and strategic direction of the company.
- Assume the roles and responsibilities of the General Manager – Corporate Flight Operations during times of absence, ensuring continuity of regulatory oversight, leadership, and operational control.
- Provide support for other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Current and valid:
- Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL)
- Category 1 Medical Certificate
- Canadian Passport
- Experience as a Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on one of the following aircraft types:
- Dash 8 400 DH8-400 (Universal Avionics)
- King Air 350CER (ProLine Avionics)
- Twin Otter 400 DHC6-400 (Honeywell Apex Avionics)
- Turbo Beaver DC2-T (Garmin Avionics)
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of the Canadian Aviation Regulations.
- Proven experience in a leadership role, with the ability to lead decisively and authoritatively while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Assets:
- Experience as an Authorized Check Pilot.
- Priore experience as an Assistant Chief Pilot or Chief Pilot.
- Flight Instructor Rating (past or present).
Working Conditions:
Due to the service-oriented nature of our business, the successful candidate must be flexible with the willingness to work weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled. While it is anticipated that the position will be based in Victoria, B.C., additional travel to various operating locations may be required from time to time.
