Created by DJs for DJs, Beatport has always been dedicated to innovating new products and services to support evolving generations of music performers and producers.
The Beatport Group includes some of the best-known brands in DJ culture, including Beatport, Beatsource, DJcity, Plugin Boutique, Beatport Streaming, Ampsuite, LabelRadar, Beatport.io & The International Music Summit (IMS). We are consistently looking for bright, creative professionals with diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
Where you come in:
As the Technical Product Manager for the Platform Team, you oversee Beatport’s core engine and shared services that power the entire Beatport product suite such as our Identity, Ingestion, Catalog, and Library services. These services range from authenticating our users, to the supply chain that processes and distributes every track and release onto our platform and partners. This is a remote role but we are looking for someone to be based in the Pacific North West (Washington / British Columbia / Oregon) so applicants must have the right to work in Canada or USA without restriction. NB - Please note this is a product delivery role not a hands-on software engineering role.
As the Technical Product Manager for the Platform Team you are accountable for:
- Manage multiple backlogs in Jira/Confluence, write and review tickets with developers, and communicate on delivery status and progress to stakeholders and leadership.
- Own the roadmap for the Platform team and collaborate with strategy and technology to prioritize initiatives and features for a balanced roadmap.
- Responsible for the delivery and roadmap of the Identity Service, which leverages OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC) flows to ensure secure user authentication and authorization across all Beatport properties, working closely with engineering teams responsible for its implementation and evolution.
- Responsible for the delivery of the platform that handles ingestion and processing of content (tracks/releases) from global suppliers, ensuring metadata and audio files are accurately processed and stored in our databases, making them ready for downstream APIs, in partnership with engineering teams.
- Responsible for the delivery and roadmap of the Catalog and Library APIs, which support discovery, organisation, and delivery of content across all Beatport suite products, working in partnership with engineering teams on execution.
- Lead the strategy for deprecating legacy systems while launching new services. You are responsible for coordinating migrations of core data (Ingestion) and access (Identity) to ensure zero downtime.
As the Technical Product Manager for the Platform Team you will need:
- 3+ years as a Technical Product Manager, Technical Program Manager, or similar role managing complex backend systems and technical delivery.
- Experience in Scrum ceremonies, including story writing, kanban, sprint planning, and coordinating multiple developer teams.
- Strong understanding of API concepts including HTTP methods, status codes, and API troubleshooting, with the ability to work effectively with engineering teams on API-driven systems.
- Ability to query databases independently to validate schemas, understand the data, and troubleshoot data integrity issues.
- Ability to visualize, document, and communicate how platform-level changes impact the broader product ecosystem.
- Ability to discuss, understand, and transform complex backend workflows to stories with developers and translate that into communication to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience with OAuth/Identity management (JWTs, scopes, and token strategies)
- Experience within the music industry or with content ingestion systems at scale
- Experience with Postman to manage API libraries and documentation
