Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Workers to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring assistance with daily activities. In this vital role, you will provide personalized care, support independence, and promote well-being for individuals. Your energetic approach and genuine empathy will help foster a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for those you serve.

Responsibilities

Providing person-centered care and support to people with intellectual and/or physical disabilities
Assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
Supporting people with disabilities in their community and in their home. Assisting with appointments and recreational activities.
Preparing meals and offering feeding assistance.
Monitoring clients’ well-being and reporting changes to supervisors.
Administering medication as per training and protocols.
Performing light housekeeping to maintain a safe environment.
Accompanying clients to appointments and community events.
Maintaining documentation and communication logs.
Following individual care plans and collaborating with team member.

Qualifications

Prior experience in Direct Support Work, Health Care field is desirable
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or dementia care is preferred
Knowledge of medication administration procedures and safety standards
Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate and patient demeanor
Ability to perform light cleaning, meal preparation, and home care tasks efficiently
Excellent communication skills to build trust and rapport with clients and team members
Minimum grade twelve
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Must have a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's license
