About Samee Metal Trading

Samee Metal Trading is a growing company operating across steel trading, warehousing and transportation. We are seeking an experienced Commercial Credit Analyst to help protect the company’s cash flow and manage its commercial credit exposure.

Working closely with the Controller and Senior Leadership, this individual will assess customer creditworthiness, monitor ongoing credit exposure, coordinate credit insurance requirements, support collections and help establish effective credit controls.

This role requires someone with direct commercial credit experience who can work independently and balance financial risk with business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Analysis and Risk Management

Review credit applications for new and existing commercial customers.
Analyze financial statements, cash flow, payment history, credit reports and trade references.
Pull and interpret commercial credit reports using platforms such as Dun & Bradstreet and Equifax Business.
Recommend customer credit limits, payment terms, account holds and other risk-mitigation measures.
Conduct ongoing credit reviews and identify changes in customers’ financial position or payment behaviour.
Maintain accurate and complete customer credit files and supporting documentation.

Credit Exposure and Insurance

Monitor customer exposure across accounts receivable, open orders and committed inventory, processing and freight costs.
Work with Sales, Trading, Freight and Accounting to ensure orders remain within approved credit limits.
Identify and escalate customers approaching or exceeding their limits.
Recommend credit holds and coordinate the release of held orders with the Controller and Senior Leadership.
Coordinate the day-to-day administration of the company’s commercial credit insurance program.
Confirm insured credit limits, monitor exposure against approved coverage and request additional coverage when required.
Prepare monthly customer balances, exposure reports and documentation for the insurance provider.
Monitor overdue insured accounts and prepare supporting documentation for claims.

Collections, Banking and Reporting

Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on overdue commercial accounts.
Coordinate collection efforts and help resolve billing disputes, short payments and outstanding account issues.
Recommend payment arrangements, collection escalation or insurance claims when appropriate.
Support the Controller with reporting related to the company’s operating line of credit.
Pull and consolidate information from the general ledger to prepare financial and credit reports for management.
Prepare accounts receivable, inventory, credit exposure and other schedules required by the company’s bank or lender.
Prepare aging reports, portfolio risk assessments and credit recommendations for management.
Assist with additional credit, receivables and financial reporting as required.

Policies and Procedures

Help establish and maintain commercial credit policies, approval procedures and internal controls.
Develop consistent processes for credit applications, assessments, approvals and ongoing account reviews.
Recommend improvements to credit-monitoring, reporting and collection processes.

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
Minimum of three years of commercial credit analysis, accounts receivable or commercial collections experience.
Direct experience assessing the creditworthiness of business customers.
Strong knowledge of financial statements, cash flow, credit limits, payment terms and aging reports.
Experience using commercial credit platforms such as Dun & Bradstreet or Equifax Business.
Credit insurance administration and reporting experience is strongly preferred.
Experience supporting bank reporting or an operating line of credit is an asset.
Experience within steel, metals, manufacturing, industrial distribution or transportation is an asset.
Experience with Sage or a comparable accounting or ERP system is preferred.
Strong Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets and financial-reporting skills.
Certified Credit Professional designation or enrollment with the Credit Institute of Canada is an asset.
