Full job description

Counsellor (Salaried) (.4 FTE or .6 FTE, 2 to 3 days per week – 15 - 22.5 hours)
Position begins: September 2026

Shalom Counselling Services is a not-for-profit community counselling agency that has been providing counselling services in Waterloo Region since 1983.

This position is part of a counselling team of therapists who provide counselling services and consultation in the context of a diverse and multi-faith community. As a spiritually integrated counselling agency we honour and respect the diversity of persons, backgrounds and beliefs within our community.

We are looking for candidates who have:

A Master’s of Social Work degree
Accreditation with the Ontario College of Social Workers (OCSWSSW)
A complementary fit with the mission and vision of Shalom Counselling
Advanced clinical skills complemented by broad clinical experience—competence in individual, couple, family, and group counselling with clients from age 16 years to adult (5+ years of experience)

Employment Conditions: The successful candidate will be offered a permanent position with the agency.

Compensation is based on the agency salary grid and considers years of experience. At .4 FTE the salary range is $29,000 to $31,000. At .6 FTE the salary range is $43,500 to $46,500. Compensation also includes participation in a matching pension plan for both the 0.4 FTE and 0.6 FTE roles; the 0.6 FTE role also includes extended health benefits. This position starts with 4 weeks of vacation if the candidate has 5 years experience.
