Full job description

MAC LLP is a full-service public accounting firm in Waterloo Region that has been in business for over 35 years. We deliver services to a wide range of clients including owner-managed businesses, not-for-profit organizations, charities, social housing, and individuals, and pride ourselves on our ability to do so in a way that is both professional and personable.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual with experience in public accounting to join our team in a Senior Accountant position. The successful candidates should have at least three years’ experience in public accounting.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare financial statements at the compilation, review and audit engagement levels in all sectors including corporate and not-for-profit sector
Prepare personal, corporate, partnership, charity, social housing and other compliance returns
Develop positive working relationships with clients and staff
Work effectively in a team environment or independently
Supervise and train staff accountants
Participate in pre and post engagement discussions
Work within time budgets, monitor progress to budget and meet deadlines
Report progress of engagements to Managers and Partners on an ongoing basis
Examine and analyze accounting and financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards and procedures
Other duties as assigned

Key Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience in public practice
CPA designation preferred but not required
Expansive knowledge of GAAP
Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and professional manner
Good working knowledge of CaseWare and CCH iFirm. Familiarity with various bookkeeping software including QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Sage etc.

Compensation Range for Role: $65,000 to $85,000 annually.
