Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Environmental Farm Plan Specialist to support the environmental stewardship and sustainable management of our 60-acre farm property. This role is responsible for conducting environmental assessments, monitoring soil and land health, evaluating tree and vegetation conditions, supporting sustainability initiatives, and assisting with agricultural and environmental research projects.
The ideal candidate will have a background in agriculture, environmental science, sustainability, or related fields, with strong analytical, organizational, and field assessment skills.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Farm Planning
Develop, implement, and maintain Environmental Farm Plans (EFP)
Conduct on-site environmental assessments and identify areas for improvement
Ensure compliance with applicable environmental and agricultural regulations
Support applications for environmental grants, stewardship programs, and sustainability initiatives
Soil & Land Management
Monitor soil health, fertility, drainage, and erosion conditions
Coordinate soil sampling and analyze soil test results
Recommend sustainable soil conservation and land management practices
Assist with nutrient management and water protection strategies
Tree & Ecosystem Monitoring
Assess tree health, vegetation conditions, and biodiversity across the farm property
Monitor environmental risks affecting trees, crops, and natural habitats
Support reforestation, habitat enhancement, and conservation projects
Research & Data Collection
Conduct agricultural and environmental research related to sustainable farming practices
Collect, organize, and analyze environmental and farm data
Prepare reports, findings, and recommendations for management
Research best practices in regenerative agriculture, conservation, and sustainability
Farm Sustainability & Operations Support
Support sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives
Maintain environmental records, maps, and documentation
Coordinate with contractors, consultants, government agencies, and research partners as needed
Participate in field inspections, workshops, and community engagement activities
Skills
GIS or mapping experience
Environmental monitoring and data analysis
Grant or funding application support
Knowledge of conservation and stewardship programs
Strong communication and organizational skills
Work Environment
Combination of office, research, and outdoor field work
Regular walking and inspections across farm property
Seasonal environmental monitoring and assessments may be required
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
