Job Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join a supportive, close-knit finance team in Kelowna.
In this role, you will manage customer accounts, payments, reconciliations, collections and related financial records for a growing group of companies operating across several regions. This position requires hands-on accounts receivable experience, strong customer service skills and the ability to follow detailed financial processes accurately.
The successful candidate will receive on-the-job training and will have the opportunity for a salary review after completing training.

Responsibilities
- Review and process customer invoices and payments accurately and on schedule
- Maintain customer accounts and monitor outstanding accounts receivable balances
- Apply payments and ensure transactions are recorded correctly
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding payments, account questions and overdue balances
- Assist with collections and follow established documentation and escalation procedures
- Complete monthly customer account, general ledger and accounts receivable reconciliations
- Investigate discrepancies and resolve account issues using sound professional judgement
- Prepare and process bank deposits
- Process transactions through customer and vendor portals, including Electronic Data Interchange requirements
- Maintain organized records for invoices, remittances, deposits, contracts and supporting documents
- Assist with month-end financial statement preparation and year-end audits
- Work closely with the Assistant Controllers, accounts payable team and employees across the organization
- Maintain the confidentiality of financial and customer information
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of hands-on experience in accounts receivable, accounting or finance
- Diploma or certificate in accounting, finance, Business Administration, Office Administration or a related field
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures
- Experience using accounting software, information systems and online portals
- Experience completing reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Confidence discussing receivables, payments and overdue accounts with customers
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and complete processes in the required sequence
- Strong critical-thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Sound professional judgement
- High level of accuracy, organization and attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
- Ability to work independently while asking questions when clarification is needed
- Respectful and collaborative approach when working with colleagues and customers from varied backgrounds
Assets
- Experience with eoStar, EDI, Accpac, Sage, QuickBooks or similar accounting systems
- Experience using customer or vendor payment portals
- Experience in food and beverage distribution, office supply distribution or another multi-division organization
- Previous experience with Coca-Cola or a Coca-Cola distributor
