McMan is a not-for-profit agency that has been operating since 1975. McMan provides a range of comprehensive programs across Alberta. A diverse range of programs and services are accessible through local offices across Alberta to anyone who needs help. We believe that help from someone who cares should never be out of reach.

Our Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Program in Wetaskiwin is seeking a Full-Time Outreach Worker

The PSECA (Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act) is funded through the Ministry of Children and Family Services and has been created to provide protection and specialized services to children and youth who are at risk of or engaged in sexual exploitation. The goal of the program is to help children and youth and their families reduce the risk of sexual exploitation in the community and on-line.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

Post secondary diploma at minimum, preferred degree directly related to Human Services from an approved institution
Required 3 years experience related to family work or high risk youth preferred 5 years experience related to family work or high risk youth.
Proof of Membership in Professional Association (when applicable)
Knowledge of PSECA as well as CYFEA
Basic First Aid Level C with Adult, Child, and infant CPR &AED
Suicide Intervention Training & De-Escalation Training
Intervention Record & Criminal Record Check with the vulnerable sector
Class 5 Driver’s License, Clean Drivers Abstract and reliable vehicle for occasional client transportation required.
Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Culture considered an asset.
Strong documentation and assessment skills.

Responsibilities include:

Work from a strength-based approach.
Educate and inform youth and families of rights under PSECA, and act as advocate when necessary.
Assist in finding community support for youth and families.
Raise awareness of the needs of this population through community presentations, community connections and workshops
Crisis Intervention
Maintain record and file management in accordance with PSECA.

Wage Range: $27.28 - $30.51 per hour. Plus, Travel Reimbursement at $0.57/KM.

Hours of work: 40 hours per week. Candidates must be available to work select afternoons, evenings and weekends to provide programming that serves a wide range of populations.
