Our client, a well-established organization in Hantsport, NS, is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join its team on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-paced, collaborative environment, takes pride in accuracy, and is eager to contribute across a variety of accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

Support month-end accounting activities, including bank reconciliations, recurring journal entries, HST returns, and related tasks
Process and maintain accounts receivable transactions
Complete data entry and record grant revenues and sales information for retail operations
Monitor and analyze sales data to identify and address discrepancies or issues
Perform weekly cash analysis for business entities
Set up and process weekly accounts payable transactions
Support cheque runs, EFT processing, and corporate credit card transactions
Provide backup support for payroll processing as required
Assist with the annual external audit
Maintain the general ledger and assist with expense reporting
Contribute to various ad hoc accounting and analysis projects as needed

Experience & Attributes for Success:

Post-secondary education in accounting, commerce, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered
3+ years of relevant accounting experience
Experience with full-cycle accounting is required while previous experience supporting accounting functions within a retail environment would be considered an asset
Experience with Sage 50, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A proactive, dependable approach with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
