Great Big Theatre Company is looking for Youth Drama Instructors for its program of Theatre Arts Classes for 2024-25.
There are approximately 30 positions available for dates between October 2024 and June 2025, at the following locations: North York, Scarborough, Etobicoke, Whitby, Oshawa, Markham, Richmond Hill, Brampton, Mississauga, Oakville, Georgetown, Burlington, Hamilton, Guelph, Waterloo, Cambridge, Brantford and London.

This is a salaried position ideal for those who enjoy working with children and young people (ages 6 to 14) , and are qualified to do so, and who also have some theatrical experience.
Completion of, or enrollment in, a university or college-level drama program is a requirement; or equivalent teaching and / or acting experience. Vocal music, musical theatre and dance are important assets.
A valid Vulnerable Sector Check is a requirement. Please contact your local Regional Police Office to obtain this; you may need to apply well in advance, as there is often a delay in obtaining this check.
Agenda, curriculum, materials and training will be provided.
Classes take place weekday evenings (6:00 pm-8:30pm) and Saturdays (9:30am-12:00noon). In Mississauga and Brampton, there will also be after-school classes 3:30pm-5:00pm weekdays.
Pay is between $ 24.00 and $ 50.00 hr, depending on qualifications, experience and number of assigned classes. Depending on where you are coming from, we may be able to increase the hourly rate to compensate for travel time. However, staff is hired separately for each location, so there is no requirement for extensive travel.
Great Big Theatre Company, founded in 1994, is a non-profit children’s and young people’s theatre company which serves a large area of southwestern Ontario, and offers mainstage productions, traveling productions, TIES (Theatre-In-Every-School) in-school workshops, theatre classes, and summer and March Break theatre camps.
