Job Description
Job Purpose:
Materials Attendant including Shipping and Receiving and Material movement along with
Customer Facing Duties and maintaining information in the relevant software systems.

Duties and responsibilities
- Participate in and adhere to all Safety Policies, programs, and PPE requirements
- Receive and telephone/email from Locomotive Reliability shop staff, and other PRL warehouses on material availability. Respond to inquiries – from Customer and Internal company stakeholders - regarding availability and if low or questionable, advise Warehouse Manager for follow-up actions.
- Reply to email requests from Customer (CN Rail) in timely manner and deliver Materials as requested to CN Rail all location using PRLCC owned ½ ton pick up
- Create and process revenue Sales orders in ERP system and process Return Sales orders. Conduct all related ERP System transactions and generate all necessary shipping documents.
- Pick, pack, outbound materials using mobile equipment (ie forklifts, pallet jacks, strapping machines, pump trucks)
- able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Arrange for courier or transport by using online portals for ground transportation as well as for Courier shipments
- Accurately record all required data and file hard copies in their appropriate filing locations.
- Receive Inbound shipments from PRL Locations as well as Customer locations for returning Cores.
- Receive Inbound shipments (good order) placing the materials into Inventory
- Complete Inventory movement (bin moves) in ERP system.
- Perform Core Credit to the Customer as per PRL Credit process/es and prepare the Core materials to be returned back RailEmc35598blueberries#to Core Processing PRL locations.
- Complete the stock validation process manually for their assigned area, once a month.
- Complete ERP system Cycle Count and load the Count Quantities in ERP System for Clearing by the Warehouse Manager.
- Perform warehouse functions as assigned, including but not limited to, housekeeping, loading, and unloading transports with equipment in a Safe manner.
- To participate in Safe Track exercises and any other Safety related briefings like Safety stand down etc.
- Any other tasks assigned for fulfilling our role of Materials Support to the Customer and PRL.
- Provide Customer Service as requested
- Support process improvement initiatives
Advanced duties and responsibilities
- Experience working with ERP Systems
- Computer experience, working knowledge of MS Office and Excel skills
- Good communication skills to communicate with the customer daily as required
Qualifications, Experience, Education
- Driver’s License in good standing, G Class, Class 5 license or as required by province
- Valid Forklift Certification
- Experience with SAP would be an asset
- Prefer High School Education or GED
- 1-2 years of related experience in Materials (i.e. operating mobile equipment, tool room); or Manufacturing / Logistics Experience;
Essential and Physical Activities Functions:
- Strength – Position involves work in office environment and warehouse environment. Involves standing, sitting and walking as well, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push and pull up to 75 pounds. Use of forklift, pump truck, and other equipment used in warehouse
- Motion – Position regularly requires standard repetitive motions and hand/eye coordination associated with Warehouse and Materials functions. May require bending, lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, walking, etc.
- Vision/Hearing Requirements – Constant verbal communications, including both talking and hearing.
- Work Environment – Position may involve occasional work in a non-temperature-controlled facility.
Position will require visits to industrial environment, including potential for noise (85+ decibels), exposure to temperature changes, exposure to hazardous materials, heavy equipment, high levels of dust, and other hazardous working conditions.
- Emotional Demands – Responsible for audits and reporting. Requires interpersonal skills and communication.
- Safety – Position required to follow all safety guidelines and requirements.
