COMMUCATIONS STRATEGY AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
- Develops multichannel marketing strategies that include print and digital materials, website and intranet development, photography and videography, merchandising, and social media.
- Lead projects using project management tools such as ClickUp, Planner, Teams, Outlook, and other digital tools.
- Allocate tasks and provide instructions and feedback to fellow collaborators: copywriter, graphic designer, and any external marketing vendors.
- Act as a liaison between the Marketing and Communications team and the key stakeholders of the Asper School of Business.
- Research of current marketing practices by competitors and relevant organizations. Presenting the information to stakeholders and suggesting tactics for the faculty to execute.
- In collaboration with Manager, Communications, advises on the strategy and content of UM Today stories that highlight and promote Asper School of Business success with a primary focus on highlighting student success, experiential education, research achievements, international exchange, entrepreneurship and student groups.
- In collaboration with Manager, Communications and Marketing Officer leads the creation of website content and creates unique, relevant and ongoing written content for the website.
- Creates custom web content for the website through HTML web development and mock up design proposals using Figma.
- Follow best practices of UX and UI in order to improve the user experience and improve duration of website visits and recruitment conversion metrics.
- Lead the SEO and AEO strategy to optimize the website’s content for improved organic traffic.
- Supports the Manager, Communications with the research, development and proofreading associated with the creation of speaking notes, emails and reports for the Asper School of Business Dean.
- Ensure all content is current and up to date and explores alternate ways of presenting information that highlights and reinforces the Asper School of Business brand.
- Lead the knowledge mobilization communications strategy on the dissemination of scholarly papers and research and other accomplishments of the faculty, staff, and students of the Faculty including, but not limited to, grant success, new undergraduate and graduate programs, awards, achievements, news, and faculty and staff bios.
- Provides effective proofreading and oversight on all written and digital content.
- Acts as liaison to other department coordinators within the Faculty responsible for website content and UM today written content.
- Leads a regular website content audit to ensure written content aligns with Asper’s strategic priorities.
SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT:
- With oversight from the Manager, Communications, develop a faculty-wide social media strategy that aligns with and supports the Strategic Plan.
- In collaboration with Manager, Communications, lead a social media strategy around the Academic and Research areas of the Faculty while actively using social media to help communicate and promote engagement with Faculty members, students, alumni and public audiences.
- Create social media content that supports increased online community engagement.
- Ensures the Asper School of Business brand is accurately represented on social media while adapting the content to reflect the platform and primary audiences.
- Utilizes Asper’s primary social media channels comprised of Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube to elevate the Asper School of Business brand.
- Manages and maintains the Asper YouTube channel.
- Create and maintain the strategy for social media responses on comments and direct messages.
- Support the Asper Marketing Team in optimizing organic and paid social media campaigns.
- Organizes and runs the monthly Asper social media meetings that include all Asper units, student groups and partners. This includes the presentation of analytic reports, agenda preparation and meeting reports.
- Creates successful social media campaigns that meet campaign goals and generate audience growth.
- Works with relevant influencers or complementary brands/partners to grow the School’s social media following organically.
- Collaborate with the Graphic Designer and Copywriter to create compelling social media content.
- Assumes responsibilities for overseeing Asper social media channels to ensure they are relevant while following and implementing emerging trends.
- Provides social media leadership and support to the Student Marketing Assistant when applicable.
- Responsible for the posting and scheduling of the channels utilizing platforms such as Hootsuite and LinkTree.
- Provides and formally presents social media analytics reports for larger marketing campaigns.
- Follows and shares all relevant U of M and community social media content.
EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS:
- Provides advise in strategy, planning, developing and deploying of all Dean and Associate Dean’s office email communications by the Asper School of Business.
- Creates and maintains the technical infrastructure for email automation and data management using Zapier, Google Sheets, and Mailchimp.
- Manages, organizes, edits, tests and deploys email marketing initiatives for the Asper School of Business .
- Creates and edits audience-specific email content.
- Oversee graphics, content, and photography creation for email communications.
- Oversee graphics, content, and creation of the Asper internal newsletter.
ADMINISTRATION:
- Manages the Asper Photo Library and uploads photos on to the Flickr account.
- Provides all associated social media channel invoices to the Manager, Communications.
- Supports library of Faculty forms to ensure proper branding and adherence to required content (e.g. programregistration forms, student media waiver forms, survey results, information session forms).
- May be required to preform related duties not exceeding skills and capabilities as required.
MINIMAL FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- A University degree and/or creative communications diploma plus a minimum of three years of directly related experience working in marketing and communications, journalism, or communications and public relations are required, including experience managing social media channels.
- Knowledge of university regulations, programs and procedures as they relate to the function/program.
EXPIERENCE:
- Minimum two years’ experience writing, proofreading, interviewing and updating is required.
- Experience developing social media plans, deploying content and scheduling of posts is required.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and Google Docs/Sheets.
- Demonstrated experience preparing PowerPoint (or comparable) presentations.
- Advanced computer skills and demonstrated knowledge of personal computer, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook) design and layout, desktop publishing, displays, reports and web pages are required.
- Experience using Hootsuite or other social media scheduling platforms is required.
- Knowledge of Google analytics and experience with digital animation is consider an asset.
- Knowledge of University regulations and experience in an Academic environment preferred, or experience in a not for profit work environment is considered an asset.
- Speech writing experience is considered an asset.
- Public speaking experience is considered an asset.
- Experience running Zoom meetings and virtual events considered an asset.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
