ONBusiness is proud to be a division of Gauvreau Accounting Tax Law Advisory, a fast-growing professional services firm with more than 200 team members nationwide. While our reach extends across Canada, our roots run deep in Manitoba. Headquartered in Winnipeg, with two locations and a fully operational satellite office in Steinbach, our local team of 40+ professionals is committed to serving clients and supporting one another in achieving success.

Our Tax Division is a cohesive team that engages in tax compliance, consulting and planning projects while assisting team members of other departments with tax related matters. This is an opportunity to work one-on-one with the Senior Tax Services Advisor, (Senior) Manager and Principal of the Tax Division and continue to develop in the key fundamentals of Canadian tax with a primarily focus of tax planning and the related compliance work
Key roles as detailed below:
- Assisting to complete various tax planning and compliance engagements including tax research, preparation of tax entries and various compliance assignments at the personal, trust, or corporate level.
- Responsible for representing the Tax Division and ONBusiness in a positive and professional light by maintaining timely communications with both internal (Admin/Small Business/Financial Services Team) and external clients.
- Assist Senior Tax Service Advisor or (Senior) Manager to complete other income tax or indirect tax tasks (under the directions of (Senior) Manager and Tax Principal) as requested by internal clients.
- Develop communication channels with the CRA and Manitoba Finance. Continue to improve in navigating through different departments within the CRA’s structure as required to complete specific compliance assignments. Staff is also expected to develop good client relationship and work towards being the first point of contact whenever possible.
- Keep abreast with technical developments in the tax profession in order to anticipate client needs and offer value added and practical business solutions.
Main responsibilities as detailed below:
- Preparation of simple T1 and T3 returns as assigned
- Preparation of tax elections and other specialized forms
- Preparation of accounting entries based on review of legal documentations.
- Research and follow up on various items/client issues with CRA on behalf of the Tax Division
- Prepare written correspondence to tax authorities whenever required
- Assist (Senior) Manager or Senior Tax Advisor with tax advisory services as assigned
- Consultation with members of other teams to resolve tax issues raised, where necessary;

Qualifications/Skills, Experience, and Personal Attributes:
- Accounting or Business degree
- Commitment to pursue the CPA Canadian In-Depth Tax Course
- Minimum of 1 year of Canadian tax experience working in a public accounting firm or an approved training office
- Willingness to learn and research tax technical and concepts.
- Solid knowledge of accounting and journal entries
- Strive to maintain accuracy of work and attention to details;
- Timely and effective communication skills (verbal, written, electronic);
- Knowledge and skills in TaxPrep, CaseWare, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Office 365
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Ability to co-ordinate multiple tasks;
- Excellent time management skills (organization & prioritization);
- A positive attitude with a desire to exceed expectations;
- Promote quality in developing client & team relationships;
- Good understanding in knowledge of ONBusiness’ services and teams
- Display a consistent positive attitude, respect, & courtesy to all stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of company services and people;
