Carvd Construction is a Manitoba-based construction subcontractor specializing in structural framing, building envelope, and exterior cladding on both residential and commercial projects in Winnipeg and surrounding communities. Our framing division is one of our three core business units, alongside our masonry and special projects divisions.
Role Summary
We are hiring a Journeyman Carpenter to join our production framing team. This is a framing-first role with exposure to envelope and exterior finishing, ideal for a ticketed carpenter who wants consistent hours, a strong crew, and a long-term home as we grow.
Role Responsibilities
- Work on production residential framing (land floors, build walls, land roofs) from layout through to sheathing.
- Support custom home and renovation framing, including backing, blocking,, and structural change details.
- Assist with exterior carpentry tasks as needed (soffit/fascia prep, siding prep, envelope tie‑ins, and decking).
- Read and execute layout and plans independently; support crew leads and apprentices as needed.
- Safely operate standard framing tools and help maintain clean, organized, efficient job sites.
Role Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in construction; residential framing experience is an asset.
- Journeyman Carpenter Certificate of Qualification (Red Seal or Manitoba ticket).
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working at heights and in Manitoba weather.
- Able to read a tape accurately and complete basic layout and measurement tasks.
- Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and respect for teammates and clients.
- You arrive job-ready with full PPE (CSA-approved boots, hard hat, hi‑vis) and a standard framing tool kit (belt, hammer, tape, square, hand tools, impact/driver).
- Carvd supports approved tool replacement if tools are broken on site during normal use.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation are mandatory; you will be responsible for getting yourself to and from sites, with locations in Winnipeg and surrounding areas.
Schedule and hours
- Full-time, target 40 hours per week.
- Monday to Friday with early morning starts.
- Overtime only as needed; the focus is on efficient sites and getting people home at a reasonable hour.
- Optional Saturday work may be offered during busy periods.
Compensation and growth
- Hourly pay: $26–$36 per hour, depending on experience and skill.
