Full job description

We are looking for a reliable, organized, and motivated Dispatch Coordinator to join our growing transportation team. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate drivers, loads, customers, and internal operations in a fast-paced trucking environment.

As a Dispatch Coordinator, you will play an important role in ensuring our fleet operates safely, efficiently, and on schedule while providing excellent service to our customers and drivers.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate daily dispatch operations for company drivers and owner-operators.
Assign and schedule loads based on driver availability, equipment type, location, and hours of service.
Communicate professionally with drivers, shippers, receivers, customers, brokers, and internal departments.
Monitor driver and shipment progress and provide timely updates when required.
Coordinate pickups, deliveries, appointments, and schedule changes.
Track shipments and ensure loads are delivered safely and on time.
Handle delays, breakdowns, missed appointments, and other operational issues efficiently.
Maintain accurate records of trips, loads, delivery information, and driver activities.
Follow up on PODs, paperwork, detention/wait-time documentation, and other required documents.
Communicate any changes or operational concerns to the appropriate team members.
Work closely with the safety and operations departments to ensure compliance with company policies and transportation regulations.
Maintain strong working relationships with drivers and customers.
Identify potential scheduling or operational issues and take proactive steps to resolve them.
Perform other dispatch and administrative duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills

Previous experience in trucking dispatch, transportation, logistics, or fleet operations is an asset.
Strong knowledge of North American trucking operations is preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Comfortable communicating with drivers and customers by phone, email, and messaging platforms.
Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and transportation/logistics software.
Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with time-sensitive operational issues.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Willingness to work flexible hours when operational requirements demand it.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
