About the role:
This position, under general supervision, will maintain all terminal/site equipment, perform reparation and support of all daily processes. Leads in-depth troubleshooting initiatives with terminal operators and the maintenance team. Through participation in improvement and maintenance projects liaise with Engineering, Projects, Operations, and other support groups. Ensure all duties are performed in compliance with Greenergy safety requirements, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Industry good practices. The Field Maintenance Technician provides the first response to engineering fault conditions, both reactive and planned maintenance activities, and is involved in continuous improvement projects.
Key activities:
- Be a safety leader. Regularly document safety observations as a part of the daily routine. Enter all safety concerns into EcoOnline promptly and follow through with the completion of each entry.
- Carry out electrical and mechanical planned maintenance across the terminals/sites in an accurate, timely and safe manner
- Update records of work activities, tasks carried out, parts used through stores and training have given
- Perform repairs by following written work instructions, blueprints, and schematics
- Diagnose mechanical, instrumentation, electrical and control (I&C), electronic, electrical and systems problems to determine the best resolution in order to execute safe repairs;
- Responds to all mechanical, instrumentation and control (I&C), electronic, electrical and systems alarms and malfunctions;
- Using technical drawings and schematics troubleshoot and repair complex process and terminal equipment
- Perform various equipment preventive maintenance tasks (i.e., cleaning, inspection, and lubrication) as necessary, but routinely in cases requiring advanced technical expertise and knowledge of safety procedures (e.g., electrical cabinets, machine interiors, etc.).
- Thoroughly document maintenance activity using the maintenance database, adequately communicate maintenance issues to appropriate employees (e.g., other maintenance techs, operators, engineers, supervisors, etc.), and properly utilize the maintenance inventory system.
- Perform checks and maintenance according to preventive maintenance plans on equipment including generators, pumps, PLC’s, motors, and other equipment;
- Complete breakdown, corrective and minor reports;
- Inspect, examine and test parts to recommend the extent and nature of the work to be done;
- Test, adjust and calibrate repaired systems for accurate performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer’s specifications and the functional needs of the operation;
- Adjust, calibrate, repair or replace defective parts and components of the equipment systems;
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment;
- Conduct final inspections to ensure that work detailed on work order has been completed to meet safety standards;
- Provide feedback improvement suggestions to the supervisor and planner and implement those that are within your ability;
- Improve equipment availability and efficiency through quality maintenance and failure analysis.
- Maintain, repair and calibrate instruments and mechanical equipment;
- Maintains proficiency in prescribed TSSA, ESA safety procedures, codes and standards;
- Perform special investigation and experimental work as required;
- Interpret electrical schematics and process flow drawings involving blueprints, PLC or DCS systems;
- Perform daily housekeeping and cleaning duties of equipment and sites
- Analyze data to find solutions to improve terminal/site performance, providing reports where necessary
- Participate in the weekly meetings and, online or offline, ask questions to better understand the how the key interactions between terminal operations, logistics, supply and commercial teams impact the overall business.
- Reach out to stakeholders to understand their immediate, medium, and long term requirements. Prioritize and provide solutions that meet the needs of the business.
- Understand the required work scopes and how they affect the business. Recommend solutions to maintenance and project execution that minimizes business interruption.
- Develop new vendor relationships and strengthen key existing relationships.
- Be vocal in meetings. Ask questions to learn about things that are not clear.
- Maintain and execute PM programs. Have a daily, weekly, monthly schedule with check list that is organized and aligned with local regulations.
- Stand out as the owner of maintenance tasks/projects and be the key contact for prescribed work/projects.
- Provide upfront planning, work breakdown structures, budgeting and execution plans in line with the strategy of the business, predetermined budgets, and timelines.
- Develop a plan and a standard for reporting on key criteria that is important to stakeholders. Send reports on a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly basis.
- Identify quick wins that improve the Greenergy brand and/or terminal aesthetic, create a plan to execute the improvements, and follow through on the execution of the work.
- Identify opportunities for the Terminal Operations team to improve efficiency and generate ideas on how to solution achieve better results.
- Work with stakeholders to understand their requirements. Work with the terminal operations team to prioritize business needs and communicate back to stakeholders the plan to address their needs.
- Create and manage scopes of work as planned and communicated.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting via email and in meetings.
- Get to know all customers and provide them with exceptional service.
- Be the subject matter expert for all assigned tasks, projects, and terminal issues.
- Have knowledge of how the terminal operates and understand the causes of breakdowns. Find ways to make improvements with keeping costs down. Know the contractors and have them readily available.
- Be proactive in developing, communicating, and executing initiatives to better the terminal and company. Volunteer to lead and participate in initiatives.
- Be available as required to provide exceptional response time to the team, and to stakeholders, in order to support the business and minimize terminal/site downtime (evenings and weekends as required).
- Engage the appropriate stakeholders to plan and execute peer technical reviews of work scopes, cost estimates, designs and execution plans.
- Identify, communicate, and execute operational efficiencies that will help to reduce time/cost.
- Ensure that all communicated budgets and schedules are met.
- Plan, manage, and execute all assigned tasks and projects on time and budget
- Traveling would be required from time to time to support Maintenance cover for all other Canadian Terminals
- This role will require flexibility due to us being a 24/7 operation and may require working days, nights, and weekends.

Skills/attributes desired:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, 3-year engineering technology diploma (Mechanical), or technical trade school, or advanced training in maintenance is required
- TSSA Petroleum Mechanic PM1 Certification or willing to acquire credentials (Required)
- This role is predominantly mechanical in nature and requires an in depth knowledge of mechanical concepts along with hands on experience maintaining pumps, valves, drives, strainers, pressure relief systems, truck loading rack equipment, meters, etc. (Required)
- Working knowledge of electrical components, electromechanical equipment, and instrumentation (Required)
- Ability to read and understand mechanical/electrical drawings (PFDs, P&IDs, Detail Engineering Drawings);
- Experience carrying out electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical maintenance to include predictive and preventive planned maintenance
- Experience diagnosing and documenting equipment breakdowns, resolving issues and handling repairs
- Previous oil & gas, mining or heavy industrial experience is required;
- Demonstrate an excellent attendance record and proven safety performance;
- Display strong troubleshooting capabilities;
- Knowledge of the repair and maintenance of fixed plant equipment;
- Innovation and ability to use initiative;
- Flexibility regarding work activities and type of work requirements;
- The ability to work in a multi-discipline, multi-tasking, team environment.
