Full job description

Position Information:

Registered Nurses are responsible for providing patient-centered care, assessing patient health, developing and implementing care plans and delivering direct patient care. Registered Nurses provide education and support to patients, families and caregivers to promote understanding and self-management while working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Report concerns related to staffing levels and patient acuity to Director of Patient Care.
2. Assesses the health status of assigned patients on the unit as outlined in the Standards of Nursing Practice.
3. Works with the patient and family/caregivers to formulate a patient centered plan of care.
4. Advocates for patients to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
5. Utilizes time management skills to provide care to patients and delegates or directs other team members as appropriate.
6. Works collaboratively with the Director and the healthcare team to problem solve, plan, implement and evaluate unit specific improvement strategies.

Qualifications:

Certificate of Competence from College of Nurses of Ontario
Current BCLS Certification required
Current IV Initiation Skills certification (adult) required
Advanced central venous access devices (CVAD) certification mandatory
Below the Drip Chamber Drug Administration certified mandatory
Current Oncology Nursing Society ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/ Immunotherapy certification OR de Souza Institute – Provincial Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification mandatory
Minimum 2 years experience working front-line administering systemic chemotherapy/immunotherapy (inpatient or outpatient setting) required
Excellent communication especially related to patient education
Documented commitment to continuing education through in-service, staff meetings and self-motivated learning
Experience in fast paced clinical environment
Acceptable attendance for internal employees
Acceptable performance appraisal in current position for internal candidates
Commitment to patient care & safety and service excellence
Satisfactory vulnerable person’s sector criminal background check

Salary Range: $41.15/hr - $58.98/hr
