Full job description

Position Summary

The Resident Support Worker provides direct support and supervision to residents across multiple housing and shelter programs. The position ensures services are delivered professionally and that residents are safe, supported, and treated with dignity and respect.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with day to day operations at the Spruce Bough facility.
Assist with completion of electronic and written record-keeping activities, including recording client working hours, invoices, receipts, incident reports and data entry of statistical records.
Monitors resident safety and ensures program rules are followed.
Maintains accurate records, files, and administrative tools.
Ensures the facility is clean, safe, and functioning properly at all times.
Provide compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally safe support to residents and participants
Support people with daily living needs such as meals, laundry, personal care, and access to services
Respond to crises, overdoses, conflicts, and emergencies using harm-reduction and de-escalation approaches
Help Residents & administration enrolled in the MAP (Managed Alcohol Program).
Help Residents self administration medication Program.
Help maintain safe, respectful, and inclusive shared living environments
complete shift notes, logs, and incident reports clearly and on time
Work alongside colleagues, Elders, and community partners

Qualifications

Minimum 1 years of experience working in housing, shelter, social services, or a related frontline environment.
Knowledge of trauma‑informed care, harm‑reduction, and supportive living principles.
Experience working with Indigenous populations and an understanding of northern and community‑based services is highly valued.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic record management systems.
Training in conflict resolution, mental health first aid, verbal judo, and suicide intervention.
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence is required.
Recent Vulnerable Sector Check are required.

Working Conditions

8-hour shifts, including overnights, weekends, and holidays
Moderate physical activity (walking building checks, standing)
Exposure to crisis situations requiring calm decision-making
Indoor work environment with occasional outdoor checks
