Position: Full-Time Store Manager

We are looking for an experienced, dependable, and hands-on Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy retail location serving a rural Central Vancouver Island community.
This is a working manager position. The Store Manager will work alongside the team as a Store Clerk while also taking responsibility for the overall operation of the location. The successful candidate will be comfortable balancing customer service and daily store tasks with leadership, administration, inventory, compliance, and staff management.
About the Role
As Store Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the store operates safely, efficiently, and to company standards. You will be visible and involved in the day-to-day business, working with your team to provide excellent customer service and maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store.
The location includes a liquor store and gas station, with the possibility of supporting deli operations as required.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Store Operations
- Oversee the daily operation of the liquor store, gas station, and related retail areas.
- Work regular shifts as a Store Clerk while performing management responsibilities.
- Provide friendly, professional customer service and lead by example.
- Ensure the store is clean, organized, well-stocked, and presented according to company standards.
- Monitor fuel operations and ensure required procedures are followed.
- Ensure liquor sales and age-verification requirements are followed at all times.
- Assist with deli operations when required, including food preparation, service, cleaning, and food-safety procedures.
- Handle cash, deposits, POS transactions, and other daily financial responsibilities accurately.
Team Leadership
- Lead, train, coach, and support store employees.
- Create and maintain staff schedules based on business needs.
- Ensure employees understand and follow company policies and procedures.
- Monitor attendance, performance, customer service, and workplace standards.
- Address day-to-day employee concerns and communicate significant issues to management.
- Recognize good performance and help build a positive, accountable team environment.
Inventory & Merchandising
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders as required.
- Receive deliveries and ensure products are checked and stored correctly.
- Maintain accurate inventory and minimize product loss and waste.
- Ensure shelves, coolers, displays, and liquor areas are properly stocked and merchandised.
- Monitor product rotation and expiry dates.
- Complete required inventory counts and operational paperwork.
Compliance & Safety
- Follow and enforce all company policies and procedures.
- Ensure liquor regulations, food-safety requirements, health and safety standards, and age-verification procedures are followed.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Report maintenance, safety, security, or operational concerns promptly.
- Support loss-prevention and cash-control procedures.
What We're Looking For

- Willing to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends and holidays as required
- Previous retail, convenience store, gas station, liquor store, or food-service experience is an asset
- Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred
Required Certifications
Applicants must hold:
- Valid FoodSafe certification
- Valid Serving It Right (SIR) certification
- Ability to meet all applicable requirements for working in a licensed liquor retail environment
