Full job description

Job Summary:

The Finisher is responsible for completing the final stages of product preparation by applying finishing touches to ensure high-quality standards. This may involve sanding, polishing, painting, coating, assembling, or otherwise perfecting items to ensure they meet customer or company specifications. The Finisher works closely with production and quality control teams to ensure a flawless product is delivered to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Surface Preparation: Sanding, buffing, smoothing, or cleaning materials such as wood, metal, or plastic to prepare surfaces for finishing.
Applying Finishes: Paint, varnish, or coat surfaces using hand tools, spray guns, or brushes to achieve the desired texture and quality.
Inspecting Products: Conduct thorough inspections to ensure products meet quality standards. Correct imperfections as needed.
Equipment Operation: Use various tools and equipment such as grinders, polishers, and spray guns to perform finishing tasks.
Detailing Work: Apply fine touches such as polishing or detailed assembly, ensuring products have a polished and professional appearance.
Quality Control: Identify and address defects, inconsistencies, or other issues in the finishing process, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
Materials Management: Mix, match, and apply finishes to ensure consistency in color, texture, and gloss.
Safety Practices: Follow all safety protocols and use protective equipment, ensuring a safe work environment for yourself and others.
Documentation: Maintain records of work completed and report progress to supervisors as needed.

Qualifications:

Experience: Proven experience in finishing, painting, sanding, or a related trade. Experience with specific materials (e.g., wood, metal, plastic) is a plus.
Technical Skills: Ability to operate and maintain various finishing tools and equipment. Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
Attention to Detail: Strong eye for detail and quality, with the ability to identify imperfections and correct them.
Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing for extended periods, bending, and using tools.
Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills to report issues and progress to supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification: Industry-specific certifications (e.g., OSHA, equipment operation) are beneficial.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with materials and products specific to the industry (e.g., furniture, automotive, manufacturing).

Work Environment:

Physical Demands: Frequent standing, bending, lifting of materials up to [X pounds].
Working Conditions: Exposure to dust, fumes, and noise in a manufacturing environment. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
Schedule: May require overtime or shift work depending on production needs.
