About the Job
Are you passionate about protecting the environment while helping organizations achieve operational excellence? We're looking for an Environmental Performance Business Partner to join our team and play a key role in supporting environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement across multiple facility locations.
Reporting to the Vice President of Environmental Performance, you'll provide both strategic guidance and technical expertise to facility teams, helping ensure compliance with environmental legislation, corporate standards, and regulatory approvals. You'll collaborate with operations, government agencies, environmental consultants, and leadership to drive environmental performance and support the successful execution of our environmental strategy.
This position is based out of Niagara Falls or Owen Sound, Ontario, with regular travel to facility locations.
This is a 15-month contract.
Salary: $75,000–$80,000, based on experience and qualifications.
What You’ll Be Doing
Partner with facility teams to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits, approvals, and corporate environmental policies.
Provide technical guidance and practical solutions to management on environmental compliance and best practices.
Deliver or support environmental training programs for supervisors and employees, including spill response, Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) requirements, and other regulatory training.
Coordinate and manage environmental monitoring programs, working closely with internal teams and external environmental consultants.
Review and interpret environmental monitoring data, including groundwater, surface water, and excess soil analytical results, to support informed decision-making.
Build strong working relationships with regulatory agencies and prepare applications, reports, and submissions required to obtain and maintain environmental permits and approvals.
Conduct Environmental Performance Reviews (audits) to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and ensure compliance.
Support environmental due diligence activities for acquisitions and assist with onboarding newly acquired facilities.
Monitor emerging environmental legislation and regulatory changes, providing recommendations on potential impacts to the business.
Contribute to the development and implementation of the Environmental Performance Department's strategic initiatives and long-term goals.
Here’s What You Need
College diploma or university degree in environmental science or a related field
Professional designation (C.E.T. or similar) is an asset
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (travel to sites required)
Experience managing long-term environmental monitoring programs, including interpreting laboratory analytical data for groundwater, surface water, and excess soils.
Strong technical writing skills with experience preparing and reviewing environmental reports.
Experience working with a variety of stakeholders, including government agencies, environmental consultants, and the public.
Experience obtaining environmental approvals and permits, such as Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs) or Permits to Take Water, is considered an asset.
Experience conducting environmental audits is considered an asset.
