Angels Diner

As a hostess a typical day at work was not hard to handle, the people I worked with were always happy to do their jobs. As this was my first job I learned a lot about customer service and responsibility as well as having a strong work ethic. The only downside of this job was how the managers were impolite to their staff and hey had made fun of me for having another job and they would not let me give my 2 weeks when I quit because they were judgmental of me having a second job (Which I needed considering they would not give me the hours I needed). The hardest part of the job would probably just be when we were busy and understaffed so i would be the only host cleaning the whole restaurant but I managed. My favorite part of the job was the people I worked with.

Angels Family Restaurant was an amazing place to work. The people were friendly and it was like having a seperate family. A typical day there for me is making crepes and fruit platters, bringing orders to tables and cleaning. Usually i would work Saturday and Sunday mornings 9-2. I learned to be a strong worker in a fast-paced environment and gained a lot of customer service skills. Management was fair and hard working. My co-workers were amazing and easy to get along with. I found that my job was fairly easy once i picked up on it. The most enjoyable part of my job was everyone i worked with and the people that came in everyday. I loved being around everyone and working there for 4 years almost 5 was a really good experience for me.

I would prep food and learn new skills in the culinary industry every day. I learned how to working in a prep kitchen. Management was open to all questions i had and answered them in a way that would make it so i understood and i could using in my everyday life. My co-workers kept the workplace  up beat and professional and showed me how to work in a fast place environment. The hardest part of my job was learning how to do multiple things at the same time. The best part of my would have to be learning a ton of new skills in and outside the kitchen.

From Angels Diner I was able to establish some great relationships. Not only with the staff, but with the customers as well. 
However, getting to work most days was a task. The management staff were fantastic hard workers, but the overall communication between servers and management was ignorance. Harassment throughout the workplace was intolerable. 
Needless to say, I was at this establishment for about a year, and although I took away some great memories of the FOH staff, I will not be returning. 

The position itself was a typical serving position. Duties to be completed, memorizing the menu items, and daily cash deposits.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The customers are great, lots of regulars

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The owner is horrible, it’s an awful environment, no appreciation to his employees no matter how hard you work, how happy you make the customers, or how reliable you are

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Terrible work environment, the owner couldn’t care less about his employees at all

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy, very stressful, totally unappreciated

Some of the people are nice, but the managers and owners are very disrespectful and unpleasant to work for. I worked there for over a year with no raise, never missed a shift, and always put up with the poor treatment of myself and fellow dishwasher. They blame everything on us even tho they were super under prepared and lacked in the amount of dishes they had, had way to few coffee mugs and silverware and all around just weren't organized and then took that out on us because we didn't have enough supply to meet demand. Free food while working or after shift is one benefit.

The employees at Angels Diner, Orangeville had treated me well and guided me very efficiently during my training. It is a very safe, respectable, and fun environment to work in. All employees are nice and respectful of the new employees. The management is very efficient as well. Overall, Angels Diner is great place to work for a part-time or full-time job.

If you want a manager that yells at everyone and treats people like they are dirt work at Angel's. You are told not to take breaks and or encoraged not to as the place is busy and you can "eat on the job" The tips are bad cause its mostly older people that go here and turn around is insane for a diner style resturant.  There's no sense of pride working there or any kind of gratitude when it gets busy. Just overall not a good job for adults and teenagers alike. 

the manager is unpredictable. he yells at his employee's  to the point where he threatens to fire them. he wont cater to allergies unless its something simple like peanuts, he swears in front of customers and wont talk to them if they are upset and ask to speak to the manager. he also plays favourites. the only people who get decent hours are the men and the women who have been there for over a year (as long as he likes them)

I enjoyed this job because I always received any shift I asked for and  co-workers were very friendly because they were always enthusiastic and willing to take any shifts that I was not able to attend. Additionally, my job was simple, and I never had to hand customer complaints.
