Working with Assante Wealth Managment was the best step in my career.  This job had a number a diverse opportunities for me to seize. 
I learned so much in my time with Assante, it is hard to pin point one thing that I learned.  I worked with many amazing individuals who were so kind and generous with their knowledge and experience I felt like a sponge taking in all their comments,critiques and direction - each was a teaching moment I embraced. 
Assante allowed me to develop training programs that took me across Ontario to teach other Administrative Assistants about our products.  
Event Planning came in the picture because I was required to locate, book venues, prepare and set up for all the training sessions stretching from St. Catharines to Pickering to Thunder Bay.
Networking came hand in hand with both the Teaching and Event Planning aspect of the jobs.
My supervisors gave me the reigns to make the job what I envisioned it to be.

Completely depends on what branch you end up in as the advisors really drive the work culture and pay of their staff. 
Regardless of the location though you will be expected to work more than what you're paid for. The burnout at places like this is insanely high, I saw numerous people come and go both in branches and in the head office support team due to lack of pay increases after being given more responsibilities. 
In my role I had people come to me to express concerns and explain what they were struggling with. The advisors at my location simply did not care when so there was little to nothing I could do to help and in turn people left. 

Your work is not valued and often credit is applied to the favorite on the team. Pay is not fair and you are expected to work unpaid over time if you want to be promoted or even considered for promotion. The core job is often not too difficult which is good because you are not supported by management at all. You are expected to take verbal abuse from advisors on a daily basis as they are the core earners of the company. Complaints are more likely to come back against you than to help you. They are not committed to the environment or to work life balance. This is not a healthy or good place to work.

Most Assante advisors work independently for the main company in Toronto.  I had the opportunity to work for one of them who was a complete micromanaging tyrant who made you feel totally incompetent and like you were an idiot.  The actual team at Assante  head office and other locations from my experience were very generous with their time and knowledge.  I just happened to find the one Advisor who didn't look at your positive contributions to his business, but focused on any mistake made in the office.  None of which were ever seen by or affected the actual client directly. I would return to Assante in a heart beat - under a different advisor.

I enjoyed working at Assante and it was in a convenient location. On a typical day at work I would do different assignments needed for the head office in Toronto.
I learned how to interact more fully with people on the job.
My co-workers were generally easy to get along with.
The hardest part of the job was being moved from one department to the next, depending on where I was needed.
The hours were great, the pay was always increasing and I knew my job well

Working as an Investment Advisor is a very demanding job espeically when you are building your own client portfolio.  You need to work from 9AM to 9PM generating leads to meet with prospects to introduce them to your philosophy and how you can add value to their financial situation.  You need to be patient, and you must supress your frustration to make sure you keep looking forward.  This is the best job if you plan to committing to it in the long run, because there is no such thing as instant gratification with it!

CI management style makes this a difficult environment to work in, more than it needs to be. They have slowly forced out the Assante employees for one reason or another. They have turned it into a culture of friends hiring friends which is to say they look for reasons to force anyone out so they can bring their friends in. The people coming in are less experienced but they are part of the in crowd.

The Vancouver office I worked at was wonderful - from management to the admin support staff! It was one of the best I've ever worked at. The admin team were genuinely supportive of one another even though we all worked for individual advisors or teams of advisors. I really miss the admin team more than anything else. 

It’s all about the luck of the draw at Assante. If you happen to work in the Operations department you will likely have a poor manager. It is all about micromanaging and a bullying atmosphere. The hours are good at 8-4:30. Good benefits. The management is the problem however.

Very unprofessional work environment, lack of proper training for FSRs. Role is very dependent on knowledge of supervisors, team leaders and senior staff. Whom can be very egotistical at times. A lot of favoritism in regards to who gets additional training or the opportunity to work on special projects.
