At the beginning, every newcomer is put on probation (like all companies i have been with) to prove yourself to the company to see if you're capable of doing your job properly. Starting out on probation, for 3 months you're not able to earn commission or have access to staff discounts which is fair because they don't want people to come to this job and take advantage of the staff discounts. 

Be prepared to have your brain hurt from all of info that you learn of all the product they supply. Well trained from management as well as being in an environment where they don't put you down for not knowing all the answers. If you don't know the answer, there is always a co-worker that will have the answer or help find the answer to your question or customers concern. Just to don't be afraid to ask questions.

Like any retail company, there will be some slow days but there is always something to do or needed to be done. As long as you continually progress your knowledge and are patient while on the probation, the sales will come and can easily make some good coin on any day (after your probation of course)

I worked here for 3 years and witnessed verbal abuse, racism and favouritism. 

One fellow was let go 2 days after starting even though he was a stellar salesperson and had much knowledge about cameras and gear. Why? Because he had long hair and the owner didn't like it. 

If you are of a certain heritage, this is a comfortable place to work. If you are not, you will be treated as a lesser. Benefits and perks are not given if you are not of the same as the owner. Customers are veered toward their own cultured salespeople by the managers. This is wrong and uncalled for.

Retail jobs are retail jobs. However there is still an expected level of professionalism that is lacking at the Vancouver and Surrey stores.

I have been working with Broadway camera for two years now and I have enjoyed it so far.  Colleagues are always happy and willing to help when I am in need of assistance. As a photographer, this has been a great place to work, there are many definite perks!  I have learned so much about the latest technology and the progression companies.  Get to meet an assortment of photagraphers and build network with them.

The employer provides excellent support for their employees and ensures fair treatment for all. The work environment is upbeat and welcoming. If any problems arise, your manager and boss are always available to offer assistance.

My time at Broadway Camera was great. Since it's a family owned business, they really listen to your needs especially if you want to move up in the company.

It's a great atmosphere if you're into photography not to mention we do get perks from time to time.

Overall it's a fair company that treats employees well.

Pretty typical retail job. Shifts are 5 to 9 hours long, you make hourly plus commission, you get a half hour unpaid break. Management and co-worker relationships are the problem. No one is accountable and everyone talks about everyone else behind their backs.

I had fun at this job and learned a lot. I wasn't a terribly good salesman, but I gained a lot of respect for the position. I learned to be knowledgeable about camera equipment. 

I'd recommend this shop as a great place to work and a great place to buy a camera.

Great company overall. The team knows a lot about photography so having a basic knowledge is a must. Whether it is a hobby for you or you are a freelance photographer/videographer this makes for a good day job.

The employer takes good care of their staff and treat everyone fairly. The work environment is positive and friendly. If you run into issues, your manager and boss is always there to help you. 

The environment is super friendly, people are easy-going, management is well organized, I enjoy most part of the job since started working here last year. Highly recommended.
