The training program will teach you very little. It depends on what jobs they have going, so if it is a slow period then you clean gutters. They say people get a job 6 months after graduating, but what they aren’t telling you is that most people don’t find those jobs in construction. Many companies no longer take their trainees. You are better to watch YouTube and learn how to do it. Management is a joke and management dont live what they preach. And if you speak up about someone drinking or not being safe, you get in trouble. 

Construction crew is fun to work with; the teams are the best and try to make sure trainees have the best experience.
Pay for trainees is only minimum wage; for a company that says they are an equal-wage employer, they don't seem to think trainees are worth that.
Pay for construction staff is below the construction average and not worth it for what is done.
Office staff do not keep a trust-worthy environment.  The company boasts about job culture, but trainees and construction staff are pretty miserable.


Very clique-y.  Non profit that puts profit over people. Don't believe the hype about them being different from other construction companies, they are in some ways but not in the ones that matter. Safety is overlooked, in fact you are punished if you bring up anything to do with it. Very Narcissistic management.


I found that the skill level in terms of construction knowledge within the company is low. The management is narcissistic and clique-y, comparable to high school drama. Drug usage onsite is often overlooked and if you have a safety concern you will get fired. The company boasts benefits and work/life balance but has a difficult time backing their claims.

CB is a trailblazing company. CB offers quality work and are so fun to work a shift with. They pride themselves in attacking the affordable housing crises though efficient and fun work ethics. They train people with barriers on site to better their skills. Who wouldn't want to work for them. 5 stars hands down. :)

This company is ran by people who have no idea.
The ED is all over the place, very one is clicky. 
Honestly  save your energy and stress levels.
Staff onsite are ok, waiting for this company to become unionised, as the staff constantly feel burnt out and under appreciated. 

Community Builders has a great culture and mission. The best part of the job is seeing trainees excel and move into employment.  CB has a lot of potential, hoping other municipalities catch on and invest in the same concept. 

The workplace culture is relaxed, friendly, and collaborative. Great place to learn and grow with amazing people to work with. You get to work towards an amazing mission to improve the community through housing.
