At the location I worked at most employees and coworkers supportive and friendly. Very fast paced, very high volume. Customer’s are well taken care of but can be overly demanding with unreasonable expectations. 
Branch Manager is overbearing, micromanaging and borders on abusive (explosive temper, insulting, unpredictable). Often relies on bullying, threats of termination to motivate employees, often reminds employees of previous mistakes in order to undermine confidence. Does not trust sales staff with essential information and complicates all tasks with micromanaging, as a result sales success can be unrewarding as not achieved without interference. Boss has created stressful and toxic environment, has difficulty retaining junior sales staff. 

Crawford is a company that takes care of its people, which is evident by the large number of employees that have been working here for multiple decades. While the work can be challenging at times, it is also extremely rewarding. Having a very friendly and supportive team at the office makes the day to day grind just that much more enjoyable. 
While there are certain policies that seem a little dated, namely the vacation policy and rigid working hours, it does appear as though management is taking strides towards evolving Crawford into a more progressive, forward-thinking company, which is very exciting!

Fast pace environment,picking orders and loading and unloading materials off and finished products onto flatbeds.Entry level into a steel processing facility.Low pay and stressful,Employees all have there own deals.Lots of union talk but they shut it down in a hurry,so beware.

afternoons works 4pm-12:30 then take an hour break then punch out

As an assistant I learned so much about the steel business & gained valuable skills.

Great managers, open door policy, good benefits and vacation time. Friendly working environment. 

I liked having a variety of tasks and always being busy.  When I had to learn a new task, my manager was very helpful and patient.

Incredibly dated way of running a business. Micromanagement and negativity trickles from the top and downward. Some really great people but mostly a culture fostered by the ear of the owner or losing one’s job. Thick skin? Great. If you have sensitivity training or are used to a conventional business structure? Keep moving.

typical day was to recieve orders measure and weigh skids.place them on skids and operated pulleys to load trucks.
The work was very dirty as the steel was always dirty and greasy but i would say that was the only downfall

if your easy going and dont care about swearing you'll fit in. The GM and Yard manager will treat you like family. Loved working with such amazing people in all the offices in the area. great people to work with. only reason i left was because i had to relocate for personal reasons.

Working hear is extremely stressful. They do not follow ministry guidelines. And fellow employees are aggressive.  The foreman brags about using force to make employees fall in line. 

This was my first job as a truck driver and it was good experience because it put me in challenging situations. When working at Crawford, you haul steel. However, the way trucks are loaded is very dangerous and make driving risky. The pay is significantly low considering the risk you are taking.
