The buildings at the Vancouver and Ottawa locations are incredibly beautiful and centrally located which is probably one of the biggest perks in working for this organization. 

The people are passionate about living a healthy and sustainable lifestyle and are pleasant to work with. 

Many of the staff seem to have been at CaGBC for a long time which is telling of the culture and growth opportunities.

It's a not-for-profit so don't expect top of the range salaries but they make up for it in other ways. Flex days are generous, paid time off is generous and the benefits plan is rich. Not to mention the setting.

Those who value quality of life, work and people over big salaries will have found their haven.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
In Finance its day to day tasks and some more strategic stuff that we do, planning always helps so we plan our time ahead likely monthly and weekly breakdown of our long term plans.

The mission of this organization is great. Sadly, management is terrible… The organization is a mess, completely disorganized, they promote people that do not really know what to do. There is a high rotation of staff, and that happens for a reason, Senior Management does not value the work people do, and they don’t even do their work properly, so they delegate tasks and wait for a miracle that never happens. 

The staff are friendly, and there is good cooperation and collaboration between team members. The salaries are low and there isn't much prospect for career growth, but it is a good organisation for new comers to the green building industry.

Alright organization for someone starting out their careers.  Not much growth potential.  Management was lacking, tendency to micromanage.  Work will be a struggle if you tend to follow your own approach to achieving outcomes within your role, not much space for independent work / problem solving approach styles.

The teams and management employ an open-door policy and value creativity and autonomy.

People are friendly and work together towards 
a common goal.

The office is incredible as are the amenities nearby.

Free coffee, employee lounge, patio and access to ongoing training and development opportunities.

Time passes very quickly - lots to do and learn.  No barrier between management and co-workers which allows for greater ease in work relationships.
