 The training for new staff was amazing and continued support for professional development and opportunity for growth. Many of the team leads and management started on front line themselves so there is a lot of empathy and support for the demands of the front line. 

The industry wide PSW shortage compounded by COVID definitely makes for a face paced work setting right now and there is opportunity for lots of hours if desired. 

Being a PSW is not for the faint of heart, specially in a model where you are travelling from home to home vs in a long term care facility, but it is truly is a rewarding role if you can stay focused on positive problem solving solutions to the challenges that may arise in a work day just due to the sheer nature of the very personal work being done with the consumers. 

Being a government funded non profit organization where the demand for services often outpaces the funding provided the pay and benefits are competitive for the industry and the professional growth and development culture and internal job movement opportunities has me feeling this can be a great long term option! 

I definitely recommend peers to come apply join the Cheshire team and not just because they have an awesome employee referral program but because we spend 1/3 of our life “at work” and I want to help build a team of passionate personal support workers who love making a difference in the life’s of others! 

When I first started so many years ago it was a great company and I loved coming to work. But know the management treats their workers like slaves, always assume you are lying, force you to work shifts you aren't scheduled to work, and will not support you or the consumers when in need of help. They do pay the most but for the things, we have to do we are underpaid. They expect us to risk our safety just so they can say a booking isn't missed (they care more about having it on paper that all books are filled than our safety) they do not care about you as we are just a number. Even when the management/director is in the wrong they will still blame the worker and cover up their wrongdoing. The new staff they are hiring don't care and often leave messes for the next staff and the manager just says "oh well" and nothing gets fixed. Avoid working here you can find better companies that may pay a few dollars less but they value you as a worker and won't take advantage. 
When it comes to the co-workers the ones that have been there long-term are great, but the new ones are catty, will badmouth you and they don't do their job as the management lets them get away with it.

I loved it there for almost a decade. The colleagues are the best. Of course there are always a few bad eggs but for the most part everyone is fun, responsible, and are good teammates. There’s a little bit of pressure at times to do overtime but it is compensated very well. The training is decent and good. They have repetitive body mechanics training etc and I’m sure it also keeps people more safe than other workplaces. I left because of undesirable HR changes. Lay low and be responsible/compliant and you could be great for a long time. Politely document all interactions with HR with a union witness and be very very professional but settle for no less than fairness and respect. Cut your losses if you have to. Overall their goals and purpose are amazing and help keep people with physical disabilities in their own home. It’s definitely worth a try to work here and be part of it. 

If your a good worker they will take advantage of you. Trust no one they will all stab you in the back, nice to your face but talk behind your back. No confidentiallity what so ever. Lack of communication. Always short staffed. I worked in the oxford area and there were very few nice people you worked with. Consumers were great and very nice. I would not suggest this company to anyone. I worked there for a year. Apparently that means nothing to them. Management doesnt care about you, the more you show you are willing to do or learn the more that is expected without any give back. Depending on who your "friends" with desides what you can do or not do. Very unprofessional. Worse then high school with the drama. No one stays because flipping burgers is a better opportunity.

Cheshire is a non for profit organization, that is unionized.That being said, the PSWs (PAs) have been working without contract and at below average pay. The work is above and beyond a PSW scope of practice and there’s way too many upper management dictating to the people that actually make their pay cheques.if you’re looking for a caring or compassionate place, look elsewhere. The PMs have  schedulers, that are basically their personal assistants with no care for their coworkers.you have to call in sick to get any day off! The turn over is horrendous, and the consumers are very heavy needs and most if not all are mechanical transfers!

After a year of 3-4hr days (spaced into one morning hour, two lunch hour and one-two evening hours) I found another job that offered a more balanced work-life with an actual living wage. I advised management I had found full time employment and would like to decrease my availability to weekends only, with full availability on weekends. They ceeased to schedule me at all from that day forward and sent my ROE stating I quit. 
Union rep did not help.
DO NOT RECOMMEND this company, there are many more out there that do better with their employees. Happy employees=happy clients. Ask their clients how happy they are....

They pay great, but you work your a butt off, you have no life, they have the right to make you work when ever they want, plus you carry on call. no weekends off ever, and this is a very true fact. They lie to you at the interview saying you get every second weekend off, but you don't, your a very lucky or a butt kisser, to ever get 1 weekend every 6 months. The benefits are great but you pay almost $200 a month.  The company does not care about there stuff, unless your a butt kisser. The clients are great, level of care is super heavy with almost every client being a lift. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

I've been with Cheshire for almost 8 years now and I love how caring, compassionate and dedicated all the staff are.
This is a workplace that allows you to help provide the type of care that I think we would all want for ourselves and our families. At the same time, you are given the opportunity to learn and grow within your own role and potentially move up should you want to. Keep in mind that you need to have a flexible schedule but it's worth it.
I highly recommend this organization to anyone who is passionate about providing a high level of care to people in our communities.

Cheshire is a company with loose rules and management rarely has straight answers. They are always short staffed. They do not care about the employees, you are just a number. You can do favor after favor for them, but as soon as you can't, they'll find a way to make you. Benefits are outrageously expensive, you are not paid your worth, and no matter how much you think you might be apart of a team, there is bad blood from the PSW's right up to managers. The managers even are catty to one another. You're constantly questioning if what you're doing is even legal.

Cheshire is a growing company, with the demand for home healthcare growing. It is refreshing to be part of a company that is consistently improving its service to its consumers and staff.

A typical day is busy and fun. The team is inclusive and friendly. They encourage you to always be learning and help you grow professionally and personally.

The offices are dog friendly, so in the event you are having a "RuFF" day, there is typically a wagging tail not far away to lift your spirits.
