Clifton Hill - Fun By the Falls

The people I worked with were great… management not so much. They don’t care about their employees nor do they care about the safety of such. The lack of work ethic by them is sad to see as well as how they communicate to employees. If you had a complaint they’d brush it off with something sarcastic. They pick and choose who they like and give shifts to. When it comes to promoting people they only give the promotions to people that kiss up rather than deserve it. The gossip between management about other workers is also something of concern. Mind you, this isn’t speaking about all of the mangers there. Not to mention the  countless times where the line was wrapped around the attraction with minimal staff in and rather than coming to help certain managers would sit in the office and then when we ask for help they’d make a comment like “go home then” or “find another job.” Also seemed like doing the job they’re paid to do was more a chore than anything. Everything to them is “toxic” no matter what it is. Too concerned with being funny than being good managers and would go out of their way to cause problems with their subordinents. If you’re in high school and looking for fast money this is the job for you.

If you're looking for a FULL-TIME job RUN the other way, this job is only suitable for ones who seek part-time/ summer job/ side hustle etc.
1- Stingy company!
So much questionable practices.
2- Lots of politics & favouritism.
Management favours people they like,
if they don't like you most probably you'll be working shifts no one wants.
Schedule is based on how you perform, say if you call in sick or late you'll be getting shifts accordingly.
3- No work-life balance.
Get ready to work all weekends, holidays & late nights.
4- Lack of structure.
No fixed break times especially bathroom breaks.
This place is one of the busiest tourist attractions in all of Canada- you'll be dealing with waves of people all the time during peak season.
5- Unstable hours during off season 
After peak season they either lay you off or give you little to no hours, Good luck paying bills!
DO NOT MAKE THIS JOB YOUR MAIN SOURCE OF INCOME!






Some supervisors are very rude/unprofessional. Perhaps due to the age/ lack of life experience. However, I do understand that this happens at multiple work environments. Overall, the job lacks structure (rules don’t apply to all staff members). Very poor execution in terms of guidelines, training, standards/protocol. This job is best suited for highschool students seeking summer employment. If you are educated, and have previous employment; I would suggest that you not apply to this company.  I’ve been denied bathroom breaks (a basic right). Sounds ridiculous, but I had to use a cup on more than one occasion. Employees talk about matters that aren’t suitable at any work environment. One thing I would like to make clear is that the older supervisors were pleasant, relatable, and for the most part.. easy to talk to.

The work at HOCO is typically very fast paced. You get one unpaid 30 minute break in you shifts, which are sometimes 10 hours long. The people you work with are the best part of the job. I've made friends at HOCO that I will have for the rest of my life. The actual job tasks however can be very stressful in peak business hours. There is not a whole lot of room for growth at HOCO, nor is growth something that is encouraged. When I worked at HOCO the schedule was often very random. Two split days off, with some of the shifts being mornings, mids, and nights. If a consistent work schedule is something you need in your life, look elsewhere. 

This is the worst job I've ever had. After a year and a half of working there (working doubles when other people call in sick, working until 2am and coming back in for 8am), I realized they would never appreciate their staff and their dedication to the company. There is clear favouritism among management when it comes to employees and it reflects in how they interact with their staff. The environment itself is toxic and drama filled, although I guess that's what you can expect when most of the staff are young kids / high school students. If you apply here, be ready to give up your life for this company and expect nothing (praise, appreciation, etc.) back from the management.

My job in itself could be a bit stressful at times, and it was fast paced, but nothing too overwhelming. 
I started off as a dishwasher but once i had been there a while, and other job openings in the restaurant became available they didnt take me seriously when i asked to be moved to another position. I wanted to be a bus boy, and tried applying to that, and they just kept dismissing me and i felt as if that was unfair, i wanted room to advance and i wanted to learn a new area of the business and they were holding me back by not allowing me to do that, so that is the reason i left. 
My co-workers were fairly easy going, most of them, certain people made the shift enjoyable.

Great as a summer job but would not recommend if you're looking for something more permanent. Must have a high temperament to work here as tourists can become unnerving, especially around the holidays. Very stressful when its busy as many attractions are understaffed. Every day I had off I was asked to come in for someone who called in. Some coworkers pulled up to 60 hour weeks in the peak of the summer season. Lots of students and young adults working for the company which creates a fun environment if you fit in those categories.

While working here I liked the variety of the job, being at skywheel one day, mini golf the next. Liked my co-workers. Although the high up supervisors dont care about you, you are just a number. I got let go after being laid off because I wasnt reliable? When i showed up early for every shift. And would worked double shifts when asked. So obviously since they didnt even know who I was they gave a generic reasoning. If you have a disability and require them to accomodate you. You better bring that doctor note in. If not your made to feel like your less than. Unless your a student just looking for summer job I wouldnt reccommend. 

I previously worked for HOCO, and it was one of the worst jobs i’ve had. Very stressful work environment, managers and supervisors are judgemental if you make a mistake (dirty looks etc) and within the workers there is so much drama and rude people it’s a toxic and unwelcoming work environment. if you’re a student the pay is fine but not sustainable for living. hours are completely horrible and i was forced to work all night in 30 degree weather over a hot fryer with a mask on. you’re not allowed to keep any of the tips you get and have to put them in the register, which is completely unfair. would not recommend. 

I worked for HOCO the summer before moving away for school and definitely secured myself financially. There were always shifts to pick up and the management made it easy to switch and get shifts. The job was easy and straightforward with no confusion or fuss. The company rewarded the people who worked hard with better positions and areas. The hours were long but the paychecks definitely made up for it. If I did not move away for school I would have continued with HOCO for a long time. Thank you for an amazing job.
