What is the best part of working at the company?
Working within a close community environment. Many of the College's staff worked had worked there for years creating a family culture, while others who had worked there previously, returned due to the close knit working environment.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Insufficient resources, and often times wearing many hats.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very close and intimate - the College has a culture that you can enjoy growing in.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Varied. It depends on the department. Because it is a college, no two days are the same. In my position as Manager, Capital Projects, each day brought its demands, challenges and opportunities to find new innovative solutions. I  loved that it was not routine.

Fellow employees are generally great, middle management is a lot of "yes" people, but rarely have their employees backs, are not good at recognizing when staff are over worked, and do not offer support or do adequate hiring. They do support PD, and the benefits are good. Overtime is rarely expected. Management often has no concept of your actual work and Executive has high expectations--management doesn't prioritize, just pass on the message of what has to be done, regardless of how much you already have on your list.

Extremely toxic culture. Poorly qualified management who have little to no experience in the roles they are supposed to be managing and who engage in strong favoritism and encourage lateral violence. Zero support. A very authoritarian and paternalistic management with zero leadership capacity. Pay is relatively decent once you have been employed for a long time but this will take time as they are now placing new hires on the lowest starting pay scale as possible.  Used to be an excellent work environment but has turned terrible in recent years.

One of the things I look for when considering a new position is the general disposition of its people. Staff and students at the Prince George campus are happy and for good reason. Our program has a good budget, the instructors (in my program at least) have progam decision making responsibilities and the benefits are pretty typical.

There are many social events for both staff and students.

Strong student support network.



What is the best part of working at the company?
very welcoming enviroment, friendly co-workers that are sincere, kind, supportive and helpful.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
high volumes of business' but its manageable with the team.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
everyone is super nice, empathetic and compassionate. Everyone does their part to lend a hand if need be.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
fast paced with slow periods in between and mandatory breaks. its Union so nobody feels overburdened or overstressed.

My experience becoming a community college instructor at CNC has been very positive.  The organizational culture is very friendly and dedicated to giving students a leg up into vocational and academic pursuits.

There are frictions and organizational politics here and there, but communication between faculty and administrators is more open than two other community colleges where I have worked. 

My job was contractual. I have attempted to get in there full time, but it is difficult in a unionized environment where people have bumping rights. 

I would definitely work for CNC again. The environment is very friendly and they promote self improvement and advancement. 

I worked with diverse people who were all very pleasant and friendly.

I really enjoyed being a student and working for the College of New Caledonia. Their devotion to continuing education, not only for students but also for their instructors, is commendable. No doubt in my mind they have aided numerous people to create, realize and achieve their goals.

I have been priviledged to work under a great regional principal, executive branch and union.  I quite enjoyed all the people I got to work alongside.  Inclusive of all current and prospective students, partners and communities.  I couldn't speak more highly of all the staff as they are truly invested in education and student success.  There is room to learn and to grow.  There is room to advance and to move between campuses, etc.

Good pay and benefits. Toxic management. Inconsistent expectations, with no respect shown to employees. Obsessive about protecting reputation, but ignores safety hazards which might reflect badly on management. Quick to place responsibility for injuries on injured, after years of ignoring hazards and near misses.
