I had some really great experiences here, and learned a lot. There are a lot of opportunities to get involved in various committees within the company (positive vibes, etc.), and if you reach out there are also some upgrading opportunities through the company.

The problem is that the Union is very lax, and so the Management get away with making decisions and interpreting the collective agreement however they see fit to work with their agenda. 
Also, Management is not streamlined. Meaning, one Manager will operate their program (expectations, acceptable behaviour, etc.) one way and if you move or get a different manager, they will be different and you are expected to adapt. 
Even though there is a Union, they still manage to make sure you get the position they want you to have, and they make sure they get rid of you if they don't like you anymore. You can be a great employee, however if you upset them in any way they can make sure you feel the consequences of that choice. 

Working in a home that supports clients with, 
behavioural, mental and cognitive challenges can be very rewarding in itself.  You are expected to help clients with their daily care: hygiene, personal care, preparing meals and daily living needs i.e. laundry, housework etc. 
 You can also support clients with engaging in community events i.e. bowling, going to concerts etc..

Most jobs are part-time, so it may take a long while to work your way up to a full-time position.  The environment itself can make things difficult i.e. constant staff changes, group home environment, lack of physical space for wheelchair accessibility etc..

The management from the top to the bottom are corrupt. If you are looking to loose you job don't bring forward complaints about abuse and neglect you will be fired. Recommendations from front line staff are not considered in any decision making. The care provided by some staff is horrific and when reporting to management, nothing is said or done. Workload is not shared equally. Yelled at and put down by management. Staff are treated like children. I worked here for 1 year. Most supported people are great. Management not open to change or suggestions. I idea is to really just house individuals. 

 They hold staff accountable because they want a good environment for the people supported. I liked that. The staffing crisis makes it hard though.
The negative reviews are probably staff that were held accountable. Leadership is inconsistent, but some great managers and directors there, with a common goal. 
It's a challenging job on some days, but I went home tired and fulfilled, because I think I made a difference in another person's life.

My day is always filled with meeting with people and supporting

In my opinion wages are fair, and above all the people supported in these programs are amazing. You learn so much FROM the people you support. Work life balance is not the greatest, management is terrible. Expect working overtime with no thanks or appreciation (sometimes no say at all) you are forced to stay if someone doesn’t show up for there shift. 

This is one of my favourite jobs that I have ever had. I really love working with this Agency and getting to talk to so many people every weekend.  Even though I work every weekend, there’s lots of opportunities to have paid time off.  Everybody is very supportive and I have shared employment opportunities with many of my friends. 

Clients are mostly amazing people. A lot of decent staff here. But I can't recommend overall or say its worth it. Too many problems on so many levels and way beyond the scope of this medium. I do regret spending so many years here, and don't miss it. Terrible organization but some lovely clients and staff. Very inept union. 

A great employer that truly cares about its employees and people supported. You are welcomed, well trained, and encouraged to grow and learn to meet your career goals. Safety is paramount and it shows through in the training provided, safety equipment used, protocols in place. And this Agency does so much for so many people over such a large area. 

I have a a very rewarding job and get to spend time with people helping them to live up to their greatest potential.
I like being able to use my creativity and problem solving skills.  I like the people I work with.
I am supported by my manager and she is fair.  Sometimes the paper work expectation can be overwhelming.
