The training process will be consisting of basic and straightforward information. No regulations on the numbers or sales strategy on place. They won't teach you anything or let you go further even if you feel comfortable doing your work. After certain period of time the employee will be blamed in slow work efficiency and skills deficit. The initiative to take more responsibilities will be cut off and ignored. 

CSM (Customer Service Management) department is the worst which is specifically works by their own and disrespect each other. Do not expect any feedback or help at all from any Tech Sales or CSM. 

Keyence management do not care about the work process and mainly rely on bias opinion of their employees. If you don't along with any person in the company - you will be kicked off immediately. The management have their own "favorites" who were treated well but not anyone who's new or if you have different personal interests which are not along with others. 

The work environment is an EXTEREMELY CHAOTIC!!! You will receive tone of calls and requests from the customers. The break time won't be helpful and there will be moments when you won't be able even to go to the washroom. Sales companies tend to be like that but Keyence will kill you with the amount of work, "unique" company culture and chaotic atmosphere !!! Don't waist your time even applying to Keyence!!! Please keep in mind that most employees are still recovering from the stress and burnout.

Initially, Keyence looks like a great company to work for, after working there I can tell you it's not.  I was attracted as compensation seems competitive and they hire new grads which is rare.

Once I started to work there, I realized that their normal hours of 8am to 5pm plus overtime (UNPAID) means you're putting in a minimum 15% more hours that other companies.  Portions of their bonus are based on numbers which you can't verify (for "company confidentially"), makes you wonder if it's fair or not.  This is when I realized their compensation was lower than anyone else in the industry.  Vacation time is average, sick leave isn't enough.  HR is an untrustworthy disaster.

The work life balance is TERRIBLE here.  You'll hear things like "you need to sacrifice to get promoted" and "loyalty to the company comes first".  The Japanese company culture is insane, it's not a place you could work and have a family.  Everyone is burnt out and checked out.

People that have been at Keyence for a while have the same feelings, the company does everything they can to extract every drop from their employee's and pays the minimum they can get away with.  

Turn over is high.

Their growth culture means you'll need to sell 20-30% more each year to earn the same compensation.

Prepare to be micromanaged in the extreme.  "How many phone calls did you make today?"

Also, if you work here, you'd better love ties.

I worked in the Tech department, where they pretty much always hire engineering grads.  

NEWS FLASH - THIS IS NOT A JOB FOR ENGINEERS.

The leader of my department made it clear that maximizing our bonus and minimizing work done was the goal, not really helping the sales people or customers.

From day one, I was taught how to game the system so things looked good on reports but it made little difference to the business. I was told to always seem busy and refuse work so that they will hire more people and we will have even less to do.  If I didn't play along, I was pressured by all the other members of the department.  Department leadership was a hugely poisonous.  I felt dirty doing this job the way I was told to.

MAJOR CULTURE ISSUES - everyone at this company was miserable, HR doesn't care about anything other than recruiting the next group of people, who will leave.

Read the negative reviews, they are all true, this company will suck you dry.

To achieve your goals, you'll need to work far more than normal hours (already long at 8am-5pm).

You compete with your co-workers in a ranking for your bonus. Everyone can do achieve their goals yet someone always loses. You'll need to sell 20-30% more each year to earn the same income.

You can't really use your vacation, since goals aren't adjusted.  When you do you're expected to "make up the time and achieve your goals".

The sales training is good, work for a year then get hired elsewhere for more money and fewer hours.

Cold call, book appointments. Be a demo donkey. Push product.
Call some more, drive long hours, more demo donkey. Sell here and there. 
Call, email, drive, meet KPIs. KPIs change, change approach. Same result.
When you join, hope for a good product and a good territory, or else your life will suck. OEM rich territories yield good sales.


Keyence inculcates a very strong work ethic on its employees. Monday morning meetings always started at 8:00 am, never at 8:01. Everyone worked professionally and respected every team member and the general manager set a strong example for all employees. This is a great company to work for with a lot of room for advancement.

Lots of encouragement with supportive management and team. Company also provides team building events like team lunches, dinner events and even games. Job itself is easy with reasonable and achievable targets. Able to work fully remote from home in this specific role, the other roles some are hybrid. Schedule is consistent, daily meetings at the beginning of the day. 

Keyence is a company that thrives on positive growth. If you are someone who is really willing to put in the work, then this is a good job for you.

Keyence was a fantastic company to work for, I have learned allot from that company. they have a good strong culture and fantastic product line. Co-workers are great to work with.
