It's a very shady company. For starters, I was told I had the job two hours before my first shift started, so I was late (the building is in the middle of nowhere. You have to ride the subway to Downsview then wait for an infrequent bus, then walk for twenty minutes). The "training" was a powerpoint presentation. There was no hands-on training because none of the computers in the training room were equipped with the program/phone system you use for the job. 

They're purposefully ambiguous and misleading about what the job entails (you're making outbound sales calls) cause they know no one will take the trip down there for it. The pay is minimum wage - so you might as well work in a fast-food restaurant or a retail store (I've worked at both and it's much more enjoyable). Everyone there is incredibly miserable, unhelpful and rude because it's such a depressing place to work and they all probably hate what their lives have become. I worked at McDonald's in high school and this was honestly a downgrade from that. I know that sometimes you're hurting for money but honestly it's much more enjoyable to work in fast-food or retail.

Oh also, if you ask any questions about your job prepare to get yelled at. All of management has a chip on their shoulder (probably cause you need to really hate your life to work there long enough to become a manager) and use the "I CAN GET SOMEONE ELSE TO REPLACE YOU IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE IT" attitude like they're Abby Lee Miller from Dance Moms. By the way, the "I CAN GET SOMEONE ELSE" line only works if the job isn't the worst job imaginable.

A typical day depended entirely on what shift you were working. An inbound shift consisted of an eight hour shift taking calls from clients interested in purchasing tickets for charity lotteries. An outbound shift consisted of a four hour shift calling clients that had purchased previously. There was no cold calling.

I learned the how to handle irate customers, and how to adapt to a customer's individual needs. I also learned how to type faster, as the job consisted primarily of typing out important information that needed to be done accurately and as fast as possible.

Management had a very friendly attitude. It was easy to talk with supervisors about shifts and help getting additional shifts.

Co-workers ranged in culture and ethnicity as you would expect in any other job. No problems at all arose, and everyone seemed to get along perfectly.

Hardest part of the job was dealing with the lack of hours/available shifts. Competition was high among those looking to text more shifts, and it was operated under a first come first serve basis.

Most enjoyable part of the job was the social interaction between coworkers. Everyone was very friendly and once work started, there was very little talk between people.

A typical day at Miratel is upbeat, fast-paced and exciting. Its about capturing interests of previous and prospective customers, and assisting them in purchasing lottery tickets for the yearly draws.

Being employed at Miratel Solutions, has provided me with the knowledge, and understanding of customer service, and to deal under pressure, all while speaking to customers in a professional oriented manner.

The Management at Miratel is fantastic. They're consistent with training and feedback, i.e monitoring calls, consistent employee review for further improvement; they're available when you need or have questions. One of the advantages of working in a call centre, is working with co-workers, and learning different things from experienced ones.

The hardest part of working at Miratel is the most busiest time of the year which is christmas. Its the time when we have the most highest volume of calls, and crunch time deadlines. However, the most enjoyable part is achieving customers wants and needs, and knowing that Miratel is providing a service for charitable lotteries, all while keeping customers happy.

A typical day at work would be very long depending on if you were on inbound or outbound. When you are on inbound calls you have to answer calls and take orders of customers who would like to buy a lottery ticket. On outbound you are constantly calling customers and trying to sell them a lottery ticket. Throughout the day you call approximately 300+ people, which is very repetitive and can be boring. I have learned to have patience and how to deal with a variety of customers verbally. There is no time to socialize with co-workers and the management is constantly telling you to dial and make orders even when it is dead. The hardest part of the job is the constant calling and lack of enthusiasm in the workplace and the rudeness of some customers. They are a very unreliable company which does not give out a lot of shifts or goes on very long work leaves where you do not have a job for over 2 months due to the lack on lottery's going on. The most enjoyable part of the job is giving people hope of possibly winning the lottery and knowing it is for a good cause.

It's an easy enough job as you just read the script they have (differs depending on whether you're doing inbound or outbound calls). Kind of sketchy as there wasn't a job interview-just an application to fill out online. They're weirdly against having reading materials that aren't Miratel related on the call centre floor. So if there's a large gap between inbound calls you're just supposed to sit there, I guess? It's very monotonous, especially if you're doing outbound and expected to make a lot of calls in an hour. There's no guarantee of minimum hours and they expect such open availability  which is stupid because they'll send you home early. It makes it hard to find another part time job. The "competitive wage" they me tion is $14/he. It's not that great.

Inbound and outbound calls are the bulk of the job on a regular day at work depending on what shift is fixed for you. I learned how to multitask and a lot of computer skills. I learned the importance of customer confidentiality. 
The management is pretty strict with their policies and sometimes can get overbearing. There is a lot of co-workers but I got a chance to meet some amazing people and make some real good friends.
The hardest part of the job will have to be not being scheduled for shifts for weeks and not getting paid enough. It could be boring at times and the supervisors can be frustrating. The most enjoyable part of the job is making a sale and having discussions with friends at work and of course, lunch break.

Its basically answering phone calls or placing calls to past lottery supporters.

Work can be busy at times, especially during deadlines, lots of inbound calls which can make for a stressful day.  During down times you can be sent home anywhere from 3-4hrs into your shift and only paid for the hours worked.

Laid off between Christmas and Start of summer usually around June.  This is due to slower call volume and lack of charity lotteries.

Overall it  is a good place for students, working moms/dads or retirement folks looking for extra pocket money.   It is not a secure place to make a living.

A typical day would involve arriving and setting myself up at a desk and logging in. I would have a headset and use that to talk with. I would take incoming customer service calls and do y best to make sure that at the end of the call the customer was happy. I would work for 8 hour days. The management was good, they were ver helpful and my co-workers looked up to me as I was the mentor manager. The hardest part if the job is dealing with the really angry customers but I believe that as long as one remains calm and has a warm friendly approach it eill work out. The most enjoyable part of working for Miatel was knowing that the product I sold went to money for charity and that I was helping to do something good.

Typical day includes: inbound calls, outbound calls, sometimes data entry, & escalated customer service calls. 
It is possible to advance to higher up positions such as management mentors or project leaders, but the pay is not much better for all the pressure and stress. 
The most enjoyable part of the job is the co-workers, making friendships, and the diversity amongst the staff. 
Downside of the job: no steady hours, first come first serve if shifts become available, management tends to favor certain agents (ex. let them take longer breaks than allotted or chat with the agent about everything and nothing even though the agent is beyond late for their shift), & pay cuts.

Managers at work were very helpful, and the position mainly consisted of readying scripts over the phone to supporters of charity lotteries and convincing them to purchase tickets. All proceeds from the lottery sales went to various charity organizations such as the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Princess Margaret Hospital.
This position was not at all challenging, just needed to listen to a customer over the phone and try to overcome objectives.
There are no sales targets and at times if the day is running slow the management will dismiss you early.
