I've been working at Monarch Basics for nearly 10 years now. It is hands down the best decision I made for my career and for my family. Monarch Basics is a family owned and operated company, and the owners are very involved in all aspects of the business. As a result, they are easy to approach and talk to and genuinely want to hear what you have to say. They want to see the company grow just as much as they want to see their employees grow in their careers and in their personal lives. A work-life balance is important and they get that! I enjoy and look forward to going to work each and every day, and I never thought that was something that could be possible! The opportunities to grow within the company are endless, no matter what position you hold within the company. I've witness retail staff transition into supervisors and managers as well as warehouse staff become the head of the receiving or become lead installers. Starting off in the design department, I myself have grown tremendously with Monarch Basics as well. If you put your passion and best efforts into your career here, that is exactly what you will get in return from Monarch Basics. All of the employees, as well as the owners here are like family to me, they are a ton of fun to work with, the are all very professional and we all work together to achieve the common goal of continuous professional and personal growth for ourselves and for Monarch Basics, and being a company that serves our local community makes it that much better!


Monarch is definitely a great place to work! The management team is firm but fair, they are clear on what they expect from you as an employee but are flexible if need be. They are also willing to listen to you if you have thoughts or issues whether it be personal or in regards to your job. They are professional when need be but can also be fun and lighthearted, there are many things that they do for the employees throughout the year from the staff appreciation event, costume contests, Christmas party and donut Fridays.
 
This is the first place that I have worked that understands that you have a life outside of work and doesn’t penalize you or hold it over your head if personal issues come up or you need some time off. Every employee here from retail to shipping to customer service works as a team and we rely on each other to get the job done, because of this I enjoy working with everyone here. We genuinely care about helping each other and making life easy for each other. I have been here for 6 years and have been in a couple departments, each had it's challenges but there is nothing that has been asked of me that was totally unreasonable. The wage is fair and there is always opportunity for growth if you're willing to put in the work.


I started my professional career at Monarch Basics over 19 years ago. Every single day is different which keeps things fun, engaging, and challenging (in a good way). I meet with different clients everyday, I am on the road somedays and I work in the office other days. I have built a strong relationship with all of my clients, and I enjoy the challenge of getting to work with my clients to help solve their problems. The people I work with are a handful of the best people around. Management is very open, understanding, and eager to help all the employees here be the best they can be. My coworkers and I work as a team and we all help each other where our strengths differ. The culture here is great, we all like to keep the spirits up and have some fun, but we all work hard as well. The work-life balance is great here, my coworkers and management all know me as well as my family and they really do care about you outside of work just as much as they do professionally.

I hate jobs where you just stand around all day, so I really liked that there was always work to do there. It made the shift go by so fast! Being able to get lots of hours really helped me make money for school. I learned a lot and met some great people. I'm still friends with some of the people I worked with there. Management was great about working around my school schedule and they have fun staff events every year. I was able to work there through all of university and it gave me lots of experience for my resume.

Some of the jobs we did were more boring than others and some were harder than others, but we didn't do the same job all the time. There are lots of different jobs and you get to switch them up.

I found management pretty easy to work with. I liked that they were willing to try different ways to do things if employees had ideas. They were strict about certain things, but you expect that anywhere. If you follow the rules, they don't give you a hard time.

I've been with Monarch for over 10 years and have nothing but amazing things to say. Monarch Basics has been an incredible place to work. It's a family business that is locally owned which eliminates all the red tape you may be faced at other organizations or companies. The owners are very approachable and treat you as part of the family. Since it is a small business the expectations are higher than in other places. You may have to wear many different hats and be open to learning new things which may put you out of your comfort zone but that is the best opportunity to learn and grow as an individual and within the company. I know I have learned a lot working here over the years.
For any of the negative reviewers, those are the types of people you wouldn't want to work with anyways because they would make your job much more difficult working with them. If you're a hard worker and dedicated you will succeed here without a problem.

I've been with Monarch Basics almost 4 years and can say genuinely it is a great place to work. Lots of opportunity for growth if you are willing to do the work. If you show up everyday with a positive attitude and you're committed to working towards success for yourself and the company, you will have a really good experience here. It is definitely not a place where you can scrape by trying to do the bare minimum or less, everyone is relied on to contribute and do their part. Morale is good with a friendly/professional atmosphere, management is accommodating and easy to work with. Each role has its challenges but you are well supported by your team and managers. Benefits are decent and there are good incentives to do well.

If you want a job where there is room for advancement, this is the place to work! I joined the Monarch team over 37 years ago working in retail sales and moved up the ranks to a managerial position. I’ve seen the business grow due to forward-thinking ownership, great management and a staff that really cares about the company. 
The owners truly are supportive and committed to the well-being of their employees. I’ve always felt like a member of the family. The staff is friendly and many have worked here over 20 years, which speaks to the great working environment. 
I can’t say enough good things about my career here at Monarch. I’ve learned a lot and made some great friendships, and I know it will be really difficult for me to leave when I retire. Maybe I’ll just stay…


Great place to work! Very friendly environment and the staff is always welcoming especially when I first started. Personally I don't really have any complaints whatsoever. I have been working at Monarch for over 7 years now and the people/management are what I enjoy most about my job. The breaks/hours I am given are typically fantastic and anyone who complains or has complained about the breaks/hours really hasn't worked anywhere else or experienced another job. The hours and breaks are within and even exceed the employee standards act. The owners of the company also make it very easy to come to them with any issues I may encounter at work and help find a solution to any issues I may have. Overall I am blessed to work with such amazing individuals and at a place that feels like a second home.

I originally interviewed for a different position, but due to my lack of experience, they changed the role, allowing me to work in one position while learning and growing in the other. 
I was welcomed to the team right away. Management is pleasant, understanding, and flexible, especially during the pandemic. I never took work home, and many of my co-workers worked their way into their positions. 
Everyone is open to new ideas but also expects you to understand that a "no" is not personal, it's calculated and based on logic.  
Management allows you to act freely as long as your doing your job and doing it well.

Monarch Basics is the job you enjoy coming too. When you show up for your shift everyone says hello and smiles. Although they discourage "grouping" in the aisle and talking, what job allows that? As long as you are respectful and kind to others, you are treated the same or better. When you need a hand with something or forgot to book off time, management is very understanding and know you are human too. The lunches are great, pay is great, your co-workers become your work family, not just people you have to be with for nine hours a day. Over all, a wonderful experience!
