My typical day at NSCAD University is a a very rewarding experience. Being around bright committed students who are constantly asking questions and pushing the limits in interdisciplinary design. I learn new things every day, especially from the students — their energy and hunger for creating new and exciting  creations never seem to falter. The hardest part of the job is climbing the vast flights of stairs. The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to help and guide the students in their chosen vocation and in return, I get to see some wonderful results that are inspiring.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The students and faculty are interesting. The organization/ company is a nightmare.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Fear of being constructively dismissed.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic work environment, and dismissive administration.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Managers making fun of staff weaknesses and mental health challenges, telling second language speakers they can't understand them.

It was a great 2 years experience working as a teaching assistant along some of the awesome instructors at NSCAD University. The student and instructor relationships are healthy and friendly which allowed us to explore various art and design topics with no pressure. My peers always showed an incredible amount of support on all levels.

Diverse culture with wonderful students, faculty and staff. An older building with some accessibility challenges but lots of character. Some definite challenges ordering stock in to Nova Scotia from other areas of the country and the US.

NSCAD University's is an exceptional institution with very poor management. The Film Department is a good example of an excellent program that has been decimated through budget cuts.

Working at this institution helped me familiarise the NSCAD community and their campuses. Everyone was helpful and respectful. However, despite the work environment being laid-back, showing your commitment to the job is crucial.

I teach part time at NSCAD in the evening. Generally I run adult driven art education. It's a great place to work! I always look forward to when my classes fill up and \i gt to be in the classroom again.

The work environment is good, but sometimes there can be a lack of communication. Additionally, the EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) is still lacking, but I believe the university is working on it.

My employers have all been encouraging, kind, and open to my own thoughts about how to more efficiently organize the routine of the space and daily functions.

Its fine but no one is organized, its impossible to balance work and school and its just not fun for everyone involved. I suggest that you try something new but its not required
