Staff are underpaid and overworked. There is little to no job security- with a high level of turnover. Staff are constantly worried about being fired.

Managers are hired who are ill suited to their roles, which leads to last minute demands and work falling on underpaid junior staff. It is totally inappropriate to have managers who do not have a thorough understanding of indigenous issues in an indigenous women’s org. 

This organization is supposed to be an advocacy org for Indigenous women, but there are currently very little Indigenous women working there and most of the management positions are held by non Indigenous men and women. This leads to the few indigenous staff there constantly being burdened with reaching non-indigenous staff since cultural competency training is not provided. 

Workplace culture is toxic with staff experiencing high levels of stress and anxiety. When concerns are brought to management they are dismissed, ignored or the staff is fired.

Work-life balance is not something valued at the Native Women's Association of Canada. Very little supports for employees who value this. Inexperienced directors and high turnover makes it hard to accomplish good work. 

There is very little job security, even though contracts are all "permanent full-time positions", there is a clause in the contracts that allow folks to be let go without cause. 

The entire HR department quit to make a statement about how poorly staff are treated (In the spring of 2019). NWAC exploits young staff who are new to their careers to accomplish the work of the organization, but gives little respect back to them.

There are very few Indigenous employees at NWAC (less than 20% I'd say) and those that are hired are usually fired or resign within a year. No Indigenous women on the executive team, which is all white. Policy teams are amazing but undervalued and undermined by the leadership in this organization. Organizational policies and procedures are a mess. HR is useless. Project funding cycles make things worse. Lots of burnout and stress. 

Very busy and fast paced, then other times could be very slow with little to no direction. Always expected to be available, though, without additional pay. 

Poor management and direction. Very little room for growth or work-life balance.  Communication between staff and units is completely broken. Under-qualified staff in positions of management who have no clue what they are doing while over-qualified staff are under paid and over worked. This continues to be the pattern even with high turnover.

Power is highly centralized around the CEO; this circle is impenetrable by other staff. Communication is non-existent, jobs are insecure, compensation is laughable. This organization is hemorrhaging staff every week, either because they quit or are fired unceremoniously. Toxic environment.

The CEO and President both need to be replaced. Their incapable of communication  with each other reflects on the measure of success the company can achieve. If they are not able to communicate, or demonstrates they are both unfit and not able to carryout their roles. Replacement of both should be immediate.

Very toxic place, nice mission but nothing to do with it. Full control change roles in 2 minutes insecurity about your job always checking cameras and emails no privacy 

I shouldve listened to the other reviews and never even walked into the building. No job security, uncertain about your role cause the CEO tells you to do a different thing everyday

They do not stand for their values, in the way they treat employees, providers and the peoples it says to represent. It is supposed to be an example to follow and it fails to confront their own issues as an organization.
