What is the best part of working at the company?
The team work and the level of care the residents recieve from the caregivers was really impressive, expecially in the dementia unit.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The ability to remain focused, patient and kind to some very challenging residents while providing care for them.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment was very cordial and the staff were very respectful and friendly to each other, and they put the residents care first.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The day starts quite early with a huddle and plan on how the care for the day will go, then we do some personal care and take the residents out for breakfast, after which we do some more personal care before lunch time. After lunch we take the residents that need to do any special activity to those activities befor some will like to nap  before supper, by now my shift would have been over.

While there is some room for improvement in streamlining internal processes, the overall experience is highly rewarding. I would highly recommend Ocean to anyone seeking a fulfilling career with a forward-thinking and supportive company.

To put it simple! If you are looking for a place to work where you are treated with respect and dignity, this is NOT a good option. CEO is disengaged and too arrogant to consider frontline and middle management recommendations to fix the horrible morale. The organization is in complete chaos and absolutely no follow through. Direction and any plans for improvement are never followed through or executed properly to see results of success. Proper orientation for most positions including Management is pretty much non existent and everyone is left to figure things out by trial and error.   Front line staff are amazing but definitely burnt out with no relief in site for the near future. All band-aide fixes.  

LPN’s there are over worked. The work load is very heavy, med pass to 42 residents is a lot for one LPN. Their clinical leaders work around the building doing nothing to help the LPN’s . They are unable keep LPN’s there due to lack of collaraborative effort. Very poor management, always coming up different policy that is not achievable. Very low wage, the amount of work there is very unbelievable. People quit all the time, they hire new staff every month. They should ask the staff that are living why they are living and find a way to attract people to stay. Increase the LPN wages is $4.00 lower than anywhere else. Don’t wait because the good staffs will live.

Toxic work environment. 
No support from management. They're just as toxic and contribute to gossiping / toxicity as staff. Favoritism from management constantly. Unprofessionalism. "Mean girl " type management who think they can act and talk any type of way to their staff because they're the "manager" 
No respect. Lack of confidentiality on management but preach to employees about it but don't follow it themselves.

The residents were a great way to express compassion and become part of an outside family member and friend

Understaffed and underpaid  made things hard on the body and mind

Good  environment culture was mixed but pleasant

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Good day  but very busy not always enough time spent with resident besides care

An excellent place to work. Managers and staff really care about the residents.  Managers always giving staff gift cards etc and pitched in at meal times ‘em which is the busiest time of the day.  
One negative is the union. CUPE is always critical and acrimonious and filing grievances. Management needs to stand up to the union there to make things better for everyone. 
They also really need a new building.  Although it is nicely decorated and well cared for residents need their own rooms.  

Very disorganized and out of touch directors and CEO. They don't listen to employees instead they implement things without consideration. The managers bully the staff and shouldn't be in the positions they have. The CEO is condensending and passive aggressive. If you enjoy going to work and walking on eggshells then this is the job for you. Glad I left. My mental health is so much better. 

The working staff (not management) are terrific, hard working people.

I had heard before accepting a job there, that there is a very high turn over. Hard working, staff get fired all the time. I have never worked anywhere, that has such a high turnover rate. Managers certainly don't lose sleep over firing people, very disheartening to see so many coworkers (nursing, administrative & kitchen) let go. 

No job is secure at Oceanview.

Just like any place of employment Oceanview has it's good and bad. Everything is only as good or bad as you make or let it be. Depending on your role your daily responsibility can vary. For some their day is specific to resident care to others it is resident care plus much much more.
