Beautiful location with some fantastic employees and members. Some great experiences on offer, including staff sailing day and regular events. Would be a wonderful job if it wasn't for some of the people you work for.

High rate of turn over, with bitter older staff and inexperienced younger employees, with lots of drama in many different departments. No notice for shift changes, bad location to travel to, disgusting "free" lunches. 

Management team are mostly new to their positions and it shows. Little response to problems and defensive reactions to their issues. They'd rather get rid of seasonal employees than to find solutions to what causes friction. Some don't seem qualified  for the standards that you would expect of their positions.

I absolutely loved working as part of the Marine Yard at RCYC. The gentlemen I worked with were very wise, knowledgeable and encouraging. 
I learnt that I certainly would like to continue working in the Marine Industry and am inspired to learn and do as much as I can, even if it's not working with RCYC directly. 
I was hesitant to be the only female in a group of 15 men, however I have not only gained so much confidence in my abilities as a person but have gained some really great friends. Working on Toronto Island is very peaceful and allows a few relaxing moments on the commute to work.

Worse HR ever . Always need it to double check the paycheck cause hours always missing , they were constantly changing the hours. They always remove 30 m ( brake ) from your pay cause of the brake but you can’t never take because they are understaff. . Summer very hot environment.
Working with people with 0 knowledge or experience. Be ready to spend all your time telling people to wash they hand and changing cutting board . Accountant always make you wait months before send refund for course that management ask you to do it. 

All the servers, busboys are mostly there for one season only. It would be better if the Club provided with an opportunity for such personnel to work full-time with an opportunity to grow within the organization. That would allow good and hard-working people to stay for a much longer period with the organization.
Overall, management is very professional, nice and polite. The workplace culture changes from year to year because 90% of people are always new.

The management is a joke, its more common of the members to be rude, work/life balance was nonexistent (15 days work with 1 day off?). But you learn how to deal with difficult clients pretty quickly, and how to keep your cool and disassociate from your personality in the face of disrespectful club members. Due to this, I would vouch for the RCYC to be an excellent place to learn how to serve in an extremely stressful environment.

Horrible management and the staff is  greatly underappreciated. Everyone in this place is either a senior manager or a supervisor telling staff from different departments what to do and how to do it. The pay is low and there are no other incentives. To top it all there are way too many politics, meaning sometimes the right decisions cannot be taken for fear of upsetting a member or a senior manager. It is not worth it to go above and beyond since this won't get you anywhere.

Working with members to tend to their boats and maintenance of docks and other duties in the yard

im working any available shift. learned to operate and maintained high speed cigts. machine,machine parameter set up,trouble shooting,developed ideas concerning modification and improvement of the machine.multy skilled hard working and strong team player.the most enjoyable part of my job is to continouys learning for any kind of work done.

Overall an enjoyable seasonal job, largely because of the novelty of getting to work with boats. Workplace culture can be a hit or miss depending on how you get along with certain people. Management is both accommodating and hectic.  Expect to be under-appreciated and no compensation for hard work. 

Best place I ever worked when it came to childcare .management is chef’s kiss and the parents ,staff are great. Also everything is so flexible. Everybody communicates stress-free environment. I really enjoyed myself. Will continue to support them when they need extra help.
