Shaw Pipe Protection

Work days consisted of coating various diameter and thickness pipe, more specifically gas line piping.  Pipe would be stripped down to it's rawest form where any imperfections would be addressed, whether it would be through mechanical or chemical processing.  Pipe would then be coated to specifications provided by the client. Preceding the coating process any and all imperfections in the coating such as thickness would addressed via an electrical process to ensure quality in the finished product.  
What I learned while employed at this company has followed me throughout my work career and is a staple with most company's.  And that was working together as a team through both the good days and the bad days. Team orientation is pivotal in the success of a finished product.
Management worked closely with it's workforce and provided adequate training to those who seeked advancement or chose to do different work within the facility.
What I enjoyed most about my employment with Shaw Pipe Protection was the ability to advance through various aspects of the job, whether it be in receiving, production, shipping and management.
The most difficult part of my employment with Shaw Pipe Protection was the inconsistent demand for pipe.  Layoffs played a role on a yearly basis and effected nearly the entire workforce.

Incredibly sexist, extremely poor mangement, favorites off the charts, extremely low employee morale. Literally some people get away with anything while others get hauled in. To the office for petty, stupid complaints.   No future for female employees, unless you kiss management btt you will not get treated fairly at all.

I would have gladly worked there until I retired. Shaw Pipe encouraged a team work attitude. On a daily basis I worked with accounting department, maintenance department and my supervisor. My job included daily multitasking and prioritizing the following: sourcing, purchasing, receiving, shipping and inventory control. It was a fast paced job which was always changing.

Good  Place to work .. The only issue with Shaw is that, they let  people go so easily. No room for error. The  upper  Management shouldn't be spending too much time and money training new workers just to allow them to fail and then they turn around to get more people.,Its a revolving door.

It’s an excellent company to work for in a union based organization. There is excellent training and the ability to advance in salary and position. They offer good benefits and the overall culture is positive in a fast paced environment. They strive for safety over production

Remember that christmas cartoon where all the Misfit toys that nobody wanted were on an island? Shaw Pipe Protection was that island. Terrible management structure and most of the people they hired you should never turn your back on. 

I worked with alot of great people, the atmosphere was a good place to work everyone worked together enjoyed there job we made it happen.
Sad that this place closed down it was a good job, with a good union. I referred there from my friend which had a referral plan which we had a bonus.

Work can be very fast paced at times and very slow at other times. This being the case the job can be very tiring, but it can also be quite boring when there is lots of downtime. In the time that I worked there, there was lots of opportunity for overtime work. The union at Shaw pipe is a good one and the pay and benefits are good.

A typical work day starts with a meeting with crew. The previous day work is reviewed, talk about safety and reassign of duty if / when necessary. 
Management and workplace culture is a friendly one where there is mutual respect for each other.
Its a fun place to work with lots of benefits and to some extent, a flexible work time.

Liked working here for a year until things changed and new staff was brought in, The drive from my house was so far and not worth it. The branch was not busy and time went by really slow. My managers were a little "off" (been there too long)
