Overall i would not recommend working for SGIC. 
Most of the staff are great the directors are really hard to work with, they do not respect teachers and demonstrate a lack of respect for teachers. 

The building itself is falling apart, there are holes in the walls, the lights dont work, the heating only works in some classrooms. 

The pay is low given the industry average, one director told me that they were a good employer as they pay for 5 hours teaching despite the teachers only teaching for 4 hours and 45 mins (in a 7 hour work day).

Overall SGIC is fine in the short term, but don't stay to long, the work culture punishes people who work hard. Just turn up, teach your class and go home. That's all the directors want anyway.

I have always loved teaching, so throughout the day I combine work with a bit of having fun. 
The feedback, I monthly get from my students, report I am professional, I know exactly how to teach grammar, in various ways if necessary - as students with different cultural background need to be taught in different ways.
There is no hard part when you love what you are doing.
The most enjoyable part: communicating with students , and finding out lots of things about their home countries, food and entertainment culture, customs.
The best part: when at the end of a session my students and I realize how much they have improved!

Since I had been working there, I had to learn everything by myself. And luckily I had very good co-workers for supporting each other when related to jobs and duties.
Everyday has changed up to situation with no standards and systems.

Fellow teachers are good company and mostly good workers. There is potential for this place to be  really good school and workplace; however, the bosses don't have much respect for the work and demand a lot of all employees without proper compensation.
Not a bad place to work, just don't get too excited about building your career here.

These people never ever respond to inquiries and job applications, however, they often want to hire people. I think the academic managers are racist and discriminatory. Please do not go here to teach. There are better schools out there where you will be treated with the dignity and respect that you wholeheartedly deserve.

One of the worst language schools you can work in Vancouver. No academic director and so messy. They do not value their teachers and just care about their money. No group benefit. 

They get nice students but with their very bad books and no academic schedule, they just make students burn out. 

It's a happy place, the pay could be better. There are no benefits. The bosses are nice guys, they really love their company and work hard. Sadly, teachers come and go because other schools offer benefits. 

this place is just like many other private ESL schools: many demands, high expectations, whiny students, low pay. Would not recommend this school even to my enemies.

Work is pretty straightforward. The students are great. Compensation for these types of roles isn't the best but its not bad for seasonal work or to supplement your income. 

Learned valuable teaching experience. Friendly co-workers. Enjoy constant new experiences that come with new students each month.
