A typical day at work would include the loading and unloading of the dishes in the dishwasher in the morning, and cleaning the coffee stations on each floor level of the building. Receiving and bringing the bank deposits to the banks in downtown Lethbridge by hand. I would assist lawyers and legal assistants with any work they could not do in time, or to assist them to finish more quickly such as scanning and copying legal documents. I was a very independent and self motivated worker, and had to find work to do on my own when there was not much to do. The management was very kind and understanding with personal life, and work life. The hardest part about the job was sometimes finding work to do and keeping busy because sometimes there was not much work to be done for me and I was just an extra set of hands. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to feel like I was assisting lawyers and legal assistants and making their jobs easier. It felt rewarding to help others in their important responsibilities.

I had the pleasure of working at Stringam for several years, and carry many of the friendships with me.  I left on good terms, as circumstances changed in my life.  There is a lot of misinformation out there about Stringam, and all I have to say is consider the source. Whether they are lawyers who are tired of losing to Stringam, or articling students who weren't asked to stay, it's sour grapes. I gladly set the record straight when I hear these mumblings now. Having worked there, I can confidently say it is the best law firm in Lethbridge.  When people ask me for recommendations for lawyers, I recommend Stringam.  If any of my nieces or nephews decide to pursue a career in law, I will encourage them to work at Stringam.

the office gossip is OUT OF CONTROL here.  It feels like someone is constantly gossiping about you, the whispers will drive you made.  

The lawyers do not treat the support staff the same as they would treat another lawyer, almost like second class citizens.

the workload was insane, I was never caught up. I worked so much overtime and never saw a drastic increase on my pay cheques ever.  I was never home on time, worked through lunches, and worked weekends.  It certainly was not worth it on my cheques.  The salary is exceptionally low for my experience and education.

I find the culture at Stringam to be very inviting and the majority of people are genuinely kind and caring. I've always felt that I can be open and honest with management or any of my co-workers and have always felt listened to. Management has been considerate in dealing with any concerns I have had and ensuring that I feel like I am a valuable member of the team. 

As with any job, there are always hiccups along the way or things that aren't necessarily ideal as a whole, but these minor things do not outweigh the positive aspects of working for this company.

Everyone is so “fake nice”. Even when you make a mistake, when they approach you,  they word it in a fake nice way. This opens the door to passive aggressiveness, condescending tones, and horrible gossip. Just tell someone they messed up and move on. It’s expected to work through lunch and past hours. I get guilted if I take a coffee break, even though our lunches aren’t paid so we’re guaranteed by law two 15 minute breaks. There are some lovely people there but the general environment feels like lipstick on a pig. 

Very toxic work environment. Training is different from each employee, no one employee gives the full details on what to do and management is Toxic.  Pay is okay, however the dynamics of the majority of people you work with are unfriendly and demeaning. 

I enjoy working here at Stringam, I find that the people here are nice to be around and the work itself is challenging and fast paced. Training could be better but I feel like HR and other legal assistants are stepping up and helping out where needed.

Like highschool, everyone has their cliques and job security is poor. They will make you feel secure then let you go when one thing happens. Don’t get too comfortable. 

Great Place to work wonderful co-workers fun place to work they have great team building activities. Willing to work with you when there is  issues to be resolved. Willing to train the right person and very welcoming.

I very much enjoy working here.  The workplace culture could be better but there has been many steps put in place to change it. I feel like HR listens to my concerns when I have them and have never been led astray.
