Difficult time requesting vacation days, and good luck getting holidays off if you're new. You're paid close to (if not) minimum wage, meanwhile some other companies start operators at a couple dollars more per hour for a similar role. Raises are poor and there is little (if any) room for advancement. Escalating concerns in the workplace does not get you far, so you're left feeling ignored and frustrated. No direct deposit, so you have to wait for cheques to be mailed to the office (which is terrible if you're not working the Friday the cheque arrives and you need the money, because then you have to make a trip to the office specially to get it). Occasionally, your cheque is forgotten and then you have to wait even longer to get it. The headsets are cheap and awful (can't hear/be heard well and they break easily), many of the chairs are damaged and stink and are rarely replaced. Some of the operators are two-faced and like to talk behind your back, so it's hit-or-miss as to whether or not you'll fit in. The kitchen is right off the phones/desks area, so anytime the microwave is used the food smells travel into the station. I could say so much more, but bottom-line is I would not recommend working here.

While being a dispatch operator at LANVAC, I spent most of my time reviewing security accounts and responding to Burglar, Fire, and Medical alarms.  I learned how to respond quickly to people in stressful situations.  My priority was always to ensure the safety and well being of clients effected by incoming alarms.  I would then dispatch the appropriate authorities depending on the nature of the alarm.  My management staff was flexible and accommodating to my schedule while I was in school.  All co-workers were extremely polite and respectful toward me at all times.  The hardest part of the job was helping calm clients while waiting for the authorities.  I enjoyed being someone people relied on and took satisfaction in my work knowing that I was able to help so many individuals.

This job is mainly pros. For being paid more than minimum wage this job is very simple once you get it. There are 3 different shifts you can apply for 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm,  11pm-7am. You get a 15min break and a 30min break. The volume fluctuates but is pretty consistent. If you're willing to do the work, you have a job that will pay you well and is loyal. I've been working here for 10 years and this company has made many great changes to improve your work experience. Finally depending on the department you are in there are advancement opportunities. The only con for me is vacation pay. You get 4% of vacation pay on each paycheck so it is your responsibility to put it away. 

Where can I start , this will now be my 2nd year working at this company . Walking into this company after previously being in call Centers that offer no sense of purpose this job gives me that. Within a year into the company I was able to advance my position all due to hard work and simply doing MY JOB! I love the work environment and I love my fellow coworkers we all get along very well! We work together 8 hours of the day ,so you learn things about each other . Management is understanding and they do their best to accommodate your needs if any. Excited to see what the future holds at this company.

I enjoyed my position at Lanvac as an Operator full time. Unfortunately  i had to go back to school and end my career with Lanvac. Working here taught me about how to be a productive worker and still not be stressed when dealing with serious situations. Management was always understanding and the staff were great. I tried to keep working while i was doing my schooling online but i just could not keep up with school and work, The one thing i am confident in, is if i wanted to come back and there was a position opened i would be welcomed.. Lanvac is all about family... They treat you as if you are family.

What is the best part of working at the company?
When there is technical issues everyone works as a team to stay on top of everything. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When system is down and only 2 operators system is working the rush is real.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly all walks of life everyone gets along with one another

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Friday's when you get your regulars calling in and they know your operating number and they thank you for helping them.

In a family oriented environment, each and every accomplishment is based upon the old but true saying "all for one and one for all!'' Hard working, focused and determined individuals are appreciated and valued high. The working environment could easily be described as warm, friendly, driven and collaborative. Team work is required as well as individual growth and development. Highly recommended work place.

A reliable place where your daily tasks remain relatively the same, so once you get in the groove you know what to expect. In the years working here they did make some changes, moving from check to direct deposit, working from home is possible, etc. There can be drama with your other coworkers. A safe location physically if you do work in person and not from home. The software is a lot to learn, but once you learn it you’re good to go. 

After working here for five years. And after training all new employees they got rid of me. This is a small company that does not care about its employees. The only good thing about working here were the other employees. They made it bearable.
Stay clear of this company. Management is very snobby. They only promote their family members. Worthless company.

If you enjoy prison, work here. Management is awful and enjoys causing drama between the employees, the boss watches everyone on the cameras all day, no paid sick days or vacation days and vacation rarely gets approved. Don’t bother calling HR for issues because it’s the bosses daughter. Dedicated employees get laid off/fired while terrible employees continue to work supervisor roles
