Vetta Nordic spa

I honestly wouldn’t recommend working here. This place gives me so much anxiety every time I come in because there’s this constant pressure to do things, even outside of my job description. The bosses have zero respect for employees—they expect you to help in other departments but then get mad when you don’t know how to do things properly, even though you were never trained for it.

On top of that, while the staff might seem friendly, there’s a lot of name-calling and making fun of people, which creates a really uncomfortable environment. I’ve even had someone put their hands on me. You might wonder why I don’t speak up about it, but honestly, I just don’t feel comfortable, and I don’t believe anything would be done about it. There’s no HR to go to, which is a huge red flag. The so-called “acting HR” is literally the owner of the company, which is just wrong on so many levels.

The only good thing about this place is the free spa tickets, but at this point, I don’t even want to use them because of how negatively I feel about this place. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Vetta is a workplace that has allowed me to grow and learn throughout my experience. Overtime, I have gained confidence in my role with support from my colleagues, coordinators, and managers. Managers within all departments are easily approachable and are always willing to assist you with any questions. Managers are flexible to fit your needs and can adjust your schedule with that works best for yourself and colleagues. Managers have open communication with employees and they provide direct feedback and encouragement. Receiving direct feedback has allowed me feel appreciated while being able to to improve in my role. Within my role, I interact with guests, check them in, answer phone calls, and emails. I often work alongside my coordinators and manager where we work together as a team to problem solve. When working at Vetta you join a team that is collaborative and supportive, and where everyone is willing to help each other out. When working here I feel as though my opinion and feedback is heard. 

Vetta promotes an inclusive, relaxing, valuable work environment, but unfortunately is far from delivering. 
The expectations are to work 8+ hours, sometimes with no breaks, be available on call 24/7 due to staff call-ins (or resignations due to the high turnover rate), and perform duties outside of job descriptions, while constantly being understaffed.
There is little to no help, support, or understanding from management, mostly due to a lack of management. On the bright side, this results in close relationships with co-workers, but unfortunately results in burnout and high turnover rates. 
I highly suggest avoiding working here until there is a clear direction for the business and proper management in place. 

Read the history of employee reviews. The trend has not changed and never will, as long as the ownership stays the same. 

If you desire a place to work with no empowerment, no trust, no direction, no retention, no values or goals, dishonesty, undermining, dictatorship/bullying with managers constantly trying to overcompensate for the disrespect issued by top management,  this is the company for you.

Polices and rules change daily and staff are reprimanded for not being aware of the ever changing plans. Others times, staff are left in the dark and expected to attend last minute meetings or events when they have already made previous plans.  Staff either leave or are too afraid to speak up, as there is no safe person to go to anymore.

Vetta preaches the Finnish culture and the benefits of relaxation, but they have certainly thrown that motto out the window when it comes to their staff. Expect longs hours and no breaks. Although Vetta encourages breaks (as they are required to by law) they never provide coverage or adequate staffing to allow you to do so… staff also need to keep a close eye on their pay stubs as they often automatically deduct lunch breaks. Prepare for your time off requests to be declined and don’t even waste your time providing availability, that will be thrown out the window as well! Management has no knowledge or history of the hospitality industry and aren’t willing to learn from those with experience. 

Lack of support from management: Despite voicing concerns and seeking guidance, there was a noticeable absence of support from upper management. This lack of leadership made it difficult to navigate day-to-day responsibilities effectively.

Poor work culture: The work culture here was toxic and demoralizing. There was a pervasive sense of negativity among colleagues, which significantly impacted morale and productivity.

Inadequate resources: The company failed to provide essential resources and tools necessary to perform job duties efficiently. This hindered progress and added unnecessary stress to an already demanding workload.


What is the best part of working at the company?
Ownership has no clue how to support their staff or empower their management team. They have no long term plan and are rudderless.

Dealing with the owners. They are undermining and micro managers with little to no experience in the service industry

Toxic , lack of communication and self servings

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
With the staff it is a delight! They are hard working despite the constant lack of direction and planning from owners

There is no hierarchy at Vetta Nordic Spa.  Management operate the spa with the philosophy that all employees are valued and that there is  no job that is below another.  I  have personally wiped down lounge chairs with the owner of the spa before opening on a busy Saturday.   It really is an exciting place to work because it is so new and the owners/management realize that they need to rely on their employees' opinions and feedback to   continue growing successfully.

I was an employee at Vetta nordic spa for 6 months and for the most part I enjoyed my experience very much. The first thing to understand about Vetta is that it is not a corporation and the owners are very involved in the businesses day-to-day. For a brand new business they have accomplished quite a bit and it was great to see the team develop and build a little more every day. Overall, if you have a positive attitude you will reap the benefits  

I’ve worked here for about a year give or take and it’s always people coming and going. If you want spa benefits it’s great the job itself is fine but the managers is what really breaks the deal for me along with many others. So much changes and micromanaging that after a while you give up and just accept you’re going to get yelled at no matter what you do. It always feels like someone is getting targeted so day to day is just not to be that person and pray you don’t get fired. It’s always something new everyday at vetta Nordic spa that’s for sure
