The most  enjoyable part of the job was the kids
The hardest part was being bullied by management
workplace culture did not exist
Upper management are bullies
What I learned is that it still is the old boys club for playing favorites
A typical day at work :  Clean and disinfect all rooms and bathrooms in you area, wash all floors that need it, empty all garbage in you area in the rooms and in the hall, clean your hall and do all windows in your area. Dust everything in your area, Change any light bulbs that are out in your area, deal with the public, secure your area at the end of the night,( make sure all outside doors are locked and secure) make sure all your doors are locked in your area and all lights are off

They dont teach you much, or communicate very well..and expect you to do a million things at once.
With Covid had to clean the sick room after every kid..
Pay is poor for all the extra work you do.
Promised advancement opportunities, never happened.
Can't read the labels on cleaning supplies, writing is too small.
You pay union dues for some reason.
Given jobs you don't want.

Work environment is in favour of the staff, culture is caring and professional

Typically there are frustrations but colleagues who empathize and support

It's a fine school board to work for but it's very difficult and time consuming to make onto the board as a permanent employee. Having to work your way from a casual employee, to a basic and eventually full time employee is a poor set up that makes you feel unimportant to the board. There also isn't board mandated procedures or standards of practice, so miscommunication and misunderstanding is very common throughout the management hierarchy.

HR does not communicate with employees about what they’re doing with your pay and “forgets” to increase pay based on experience. 
Support staff not recognized as part of the team when working within a school. 
Different sectors within the board don’t communicate to each other. Nobody wants to work together. 
Employee conditions are vague and not complied by anyways. 
Pay is significantly lower compared to other boards for support staff. 
Took almost 2 years to secure a permanent position. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
At least in my experience I felt they were willing to invest trust and resources in employees that worked hard both up front and behind the scenes.

Staffing shortages sometimes caused borderline manditory OT

Working for AMDSB has been rewarding in so many ways. Students and staff are amazing.

Definitely need to be ready and fully able to be on your feet

Team players and someone is always willing to listen or help

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
This is a Monday to Friday day time shifts

It is a stressful and toxic work environment.    The management judges you from what family you’ve come from and where you grew up.   The school community staff are “clicky” in their own groups and not a welcoming environment for new employees.  

I am a supply EA so every day can be at a different school within the board. Work is available every day because there seems to be a shortage of EAs. It can be tough to go to a different place each day and not know the students or staff. It is definitely fast paced and you are thrown into the mix without a lot of instruction.

Teachers complained about after hour music . Management have the backbone of a jelly fish. HR instills a woke liberal environment where proof or facts are irrelevant.

No accountability just a lot of two faced people complaining behind one another's back.

Pay is meh.
