A typical day at work as a hostess is usually not very welcoming and fun. You are forced to work while the servers sit around on their phones and yell at you to do stuff for them. I learned how to quickly get to customers and balance everything else in the restaurant. They do not usually put more than one or two hostesses to work per day which gets hard when you are forced to do everything yourself. The hardest part of the job would be getting yelled at for stuff you cannot control, and getting yelled at by management without reason, and if you say anything back you will get fired. The most enjoyable part of the job are your fellow hostesses and making friends. You also do not get a break even though legally after working for 5 hours you must. And sometimes they may call you in and make you leave an hour after, even though legally you must work for 3 hours. Not a very professional workplace

Allstar Wing and Ribs is definitely a fun place to work and I appreciate my colleagues, as they are diverse individuals that make Allstar an enjoyable place to work. 

Throughout the day we stock the line, clean up the kitchen and of course make the food that's being ordered. The day is just preparation time for the night rushes though.

From this I've learned the best way to manage my time throughout the day and how to prepare for expected tasks. 

The Hardest part of any day would be the big dinner rushes. Needing to manage all the food and to get it out at appropriate times can prove to be tough. 

The most enjoyable parts are the times when I can get away from the loudness of the kitchen and clean the surrounding areas during the quiet periods.

This place is an absolute joke. The little girls in front office try and run the whole show by watching the cameras from their cell phones. They care more about rules and policy than they do about their employees. 
I wouldnt eat the food either. No one takes pride in their cleanliness, work stations are a mess. Hands arent washed. Food is left out. Its a complete mess back there. I wont even mention the mounds of dirt that falls from the light fixtures and pipes above. 

Toxic co-workers, always drama going on. Location is terrible - they make you pay a $5 breakage fee every shift which makes no sense since they are always out of cutlery and plates. Management is also toxic and shady. It's a clique environment. Beware of this location (Scarborough location), someone was stabbed here - there's no security for your safety.

Workplace culture and morale are at an all-time low here. Extremely high turnover rate, zero support from management and also very clear favouritism. Compensation does not equal the amount of work you do. The restaurant also attracts very undesirable clientele. It's evident that they do not invest their time on their staff, so don't bother finding employment here if you care about your mental health.

Management is horrible, they don’t respect any of there employees and have deeper intentions with female workers. Would never recommend to work under current Pickering management. They fire loyal employees and hard workers with no legitimate reasoning. (Simply if they personally don’t like you after they hire you) So be prepared to kiss up if you want to work there for at least a month.

Not very fast paced, slow at times. I learned how to co-operate with coworkers. Management at the Square 1 location was not very professional. That being said i learned a lot from my co-workers. The hardest past of the job was the cleaning schedule. The most enjoyable part was gaining a friendship with the regulars.

Management is awful, tips are awful. The owners when "managing" just sit in the back office on their phones and stare at you like you are the biggest failure when you're asking for something as simple as getting something voided off the bill. (which happens ALL THE TIME in the restaurant industry. This place is a joke and definitely the worst job Ive ever had.

socialization and gossiping… that’s all

getting verbally abused by “management” 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
toxic, stressful, competitive, non cohesive

I started as hostess and after three weeks I was serving. It was an opportunity that managers gave to me due to my responsibility skills and excitement to work.
