What is the best part of working at the company?
In a previous position with Archway Community Services, I experienced a work environment that was deeply disorganized and lacked even the most basic standards of professionalism, training, and accountability. I was placed into the role with no meaningful orientation, no clear policies, and no support, and was expected to manage complex client needs entirely on my own.

During my short time there, I witnessed serious issues that directly impacted client care, including the misuse of resources and a lack of professional boundaries among staff. Essential supplies intended for clients were not consistently available, and there appeared to be little oversight to ensure ethical practices were being followed. Despite these challenges, I remained focused on supporting clients and maintaining as safe and stable an environment as possible during my shifts.

At the same time, there was a pattern of inconsistent communication and micromanagement without proper guidance, which made it even more difficult to carry out my responsibilities effectively. Rather than receiving constructive support, I was subjected to unclear expectations and reactive decision-making.

This culminated in a meeting requested by Archway administration, where I was terminated. During that meeting, I felt that my supervisor misrepresented my performance and the circumstances of my work, which was both frustrating and disheartening given the lack of training and support I had received from the outset.

Although my time with Archway Community Services was brief, the experience had a lasting impact on me. It reinforced how critical proper training, ethical responsibility, and strong leadership are in this field. It also strengthened my commitment to working in organizations that prioritize transparency, client care, staff support, and accountability.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of my experience was the lack of support and the immaturity and inexperience in supervision. There was little guidance or structure, and communication was often unclear or unprofessional, which made it difficult to meet expectations and provide consistent care to clients.

This experience reinforced how essential strong, knowledgeable leadership and proper staff support are in delivering safe and effective services

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
My experience at Archway Community Services was poorly supported and disorganized. There was little training, inconsistent supervision, and unclear communication, which made the role very difficult to perform effectively.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day at Archway Community Services involved supporting clients in a fast-paced, high-needs environment, including safety concerns, basic support, and de-escalation when needed.

The work required a lot of independence and adaptability, as guidance and support were not always immediately available. I focused on client safety, responding to situations as they came up, and completing required documentation throughout the shift.

An Org that claims to not judge or stereo type and whom gives an equal opportunity employment approach but in fact if you don't look clean enough like other staff or if your lived experiences that are directly inline with the persons in their programs which should be an asset sadly it is the opposite and more so how such clean cut staff with little to no lived experiences can claim to know more and just sit and roll their eyes in interviews making it clear to anyone knowing better there is no way you fit their culturistic employment guidelines and you will not fit within their camp of sorts. They waste your time  in believing you may be treated like a human being for employment then outright lie to get out and around from breaking labour laws and more so their hypocritical open arms with an Archway for all multiple faces. We try to bring to Archway staff who could matter and when we do its useless. It doesn't matter how you answer the questions as much as if you look and act like the image of a staff the Org wants the public to perceive works at Archway . It's all about the Government funding and creating more programs for the chosen few to be elevated for employment to. This lack of honesty is an accepted trait to most of the staff but to the few needing more genuine staff that just want to work safely within the vulnerable sector getting that chance depends on ego's and ignorance to be left out of the equation from management.  That's not the reality.  So some great new staff will never be employed here at Archway. 

I started off with ACS as a Casual Support Staff. After an opportunity came up for a Full Time Support Staff position, I applied. I had loved the environment and the manager appeared to be super supportive of their workers in the resource. 

After getting the full time position, an unfortunate situation came up where the union would not allow myself and the other full time support worker to work the shifts we wanted (3 days with 37 hours). So, we ended up working 5 days per week and since I had been the newer worker, I had lost hours, only getting 34.5 per week. 

As time went on, I came to learn about how tightly knit and supportive the staff were of each other but it seemed to be opposite for the resource manager. The workers continued to advocate for themselves but the manager would often shut them down and then tell the rest of management a different story as to what was going on, causing a lot of tension between the workers and management. The manager would not take any accountability for their actions and was not present for a lot of things. 

In the end, it was not a good place to work at other than the co-staff i had the opportunity to work with. 

ACS needs to do a lot of follow up with their workers, take their perspectives into mind and not shut them down when they are trying to communicate what has been going on.

Archway Community Services is a genuinely caring organization that does important work in the community. During my time there, I found the staff to be compassionate, supportive, and deeply committed to helping people in need. There’s a real sense of teamwork, and you can tell that most employees are there because they want to make a difference. The job can be demanding at times—especially in front-line or support worker roles—but it’s also incredibly rewarding to see the impact you have on clients’ lives. Management generally encourages collaboration and provides flexibility when possible, though communication between departments could be improved. Training and resources are solid, but there’s always room for more consistency. Overall, Archway is a great place to grow your skills, connect with the community, and be part of meaningful work. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone passionate about social services and community support.


Archway is an amazing place from the very top, down.  The Executive Director takes time to chat with everyone, he's genuine and down to earth.  These qualities trickle down to the senior leadership team.  They care, they listen, they try to make things better for everyone working there.  Its a collaborative environment and the passion for helping our community is evident in the work we do. The people I work with are all kind, genuine and fully competent in the jobs they have. Its a great place to be!

It's the most toxic environment I have ever been in and the most hypocritical. All the values that they proclaim are false and misleading. I have never worked at such an unprofessional place. There's no leadership. Management is useless. They never take care of the real problems, no nonbias approach to problems, they ignore them. Workers are overwhelmed with work and I have never seen so  many people leave in a year. If it's such a great place to work why is there such a high turnaround. I was bullied several times and management did not do their due diligence by  doing a proper investigation. I was left on my own and I ended up being the scape goat. I will never recommend anybody to work there.

I started out as a frontline employee and transitioned into a leadership role over the course of the years.  I have learned so much in my time at Archway, and have grown as a professional in the work that I am passionate about.  I work with an incredible team of staff that have long careers at the org, and am mentored well by my leaders.  I love the work, the staff, the community we support.  I am passionate about creating programming that is equitable and accessible for all.  The issues we face are difficult, but we persevere as a team with support from others at our agency.   

Run
Possibly the worst treatment of staff I’ve seen. Staff are replaced regularly in batches after being micromanaged, and verbally abused making the job intolerable. 
The total lack of clear and consistent communication makes tasks impossible to perform to management satisfaction even when acceptable to other staff who have previously prepared the same documents. 
Poor use of good people who go above and beyond without complaint. 

I have worked at Archway for over a year, and what I like about the organization is how Management cares for its staff and clients, the camaraderie amongst the Programs, and the great in-house training opportunities.  What has kept me working at Archway is its' people.  Everyone I have been in contact with at Archway is helpful, courteous, warm, friendly, respectful, and professional.   I enjoy going to work every day.  Staff work hard, but we also manage to find time to celebrate occasions, or share a laugh.   It is a wonderful place to work, to grow, and to learn.
